Hi Guys Got my SET coming up very soon. Currently doing a treadmill mile 1/2 in 10.05, so hopefully will be ok for the actual test. Practiced the papers which are available online, seem ok, just hope don't stress too much under the test conditions. Just wondering about timescales, how long if you pass the SET does in take to, 1st interview, 2nd Interview etc.. This is my first time applying, really anxious, want this more than I have ever wanted anything. Good luck to everyone applying. Jon

Hi folks I realise this is a bit last minute, but there's a recruitment day at Wishaw sports centre tomorrow those of you who live in the N division area and are looking to apply to the specials. It's on until 1900 hours - sorry I don't know when it starts - 1500 hours I think. It would be worthwhile coming along if you can, speak to some officers... Jazz Hands!

Well after spending an excellent period of time at a quieter station within G Division, I have requested a move to a busier station within the Division to work with the core shift. I would wholeheartedly love to stay at my current station but the way things are going, it looks likely that it will be increasingly difficult for me to secure a partner each weekend on any kind of regular basis. There is no doubt that I have enjoyed almost every minute working from my current station...the officers and support staff have been a fantastic bunch and embraced me as one of their own. Most took time to show me how to do things properly and complete paperwork and the like, which wi…

I was going to go for a whole huge headline but decided, smaller could be better? I saw this article yesterday and got to thinking, on a commercial level, of how this is going to be implemented, if at all. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/crime-c...ervice-1.932990 There are rumours in the public realm that PCs could be going over to do support staff jobs. But then in the article it is suggesting that front line officers may also be facing redundancies. Special Constables, in my eyes, play a great role in modern day policing, I have kinda picked that up from this forum, so, do we see Specials being greatly relied on even more if all these cuts do actually come to fr…

This is probably one for serving SC/PCs I saw a lot of police today at the marches in Glasgow, and a few had blue flasks on their belt. Is this a new thing for you to carry water in? Just found it a bit strange when I read an article about Mr House reprimanding a PC for drinking water while on duty, but then surely you can't stop someone drinking water if its going to stop them collapsing?? I actually thought the flasks might have been some sort of captive spray, but there was no dispenser.

I just saw this post on the general section - but wondered, cause you don't see a lot of it mentioned or if I am just missing it, Do Scottish Specials drive police cars? And is it still the case that regular officers need to complete their probationary period before driving? http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index....showtopic=99341
