Hi there I've got my initial interview tomorrow and have been grafting like mad to get ready for it. One thing that has caught me out a little bit is the changes happening in the force at the minute, I know there is the big recruitment drive at the minute to balanve the number of people soon to be retiring but other than that I'm stumped. I've been on the Strathclyde website but with little success in this area. Does anyone know of any other big changes happening at the min. I would be really grateful. If anyone reading this has been through the interview please comment on how you found it. I've done loads of research for this but can't help but feel if I've done enough. …

Hi all, just filling out an aplication form now and on the section regarding "other information" I'm not sure what to include. Im currently working part time for Securigroup as a door steward so im thinking of writing a bit about that. See i work at Strathclyde Students Union where, its not like other clubs in town. we make a point of talking someone into leaving if needs be and physical ejection is rarely used. Focus is on communication here. Should I make a big point of this or play down the door steward part, I wouldnt want it to act negatively on my application?

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone on here could help me please. I have been told I will sit my Set and Fitness Test on the same day. I was wondering do you just turn up in your running gear? How did people go about getting ready for the bleep test or 1.5 mile run? I would like to over the next 2 months train for both tests. I have used the practise papers on the website but does anyone on here know anywhere else I could get my hands on some more practise papers? Thank you in advance.

hello I'll soon be sitting my SETs and Fitness Tests and have the Initial Interview that day too. Does anyone know how long this interview lasts and if it is as indepth as the Home Visit? Also does anyone know where I can find a good piece about Diversity in the Police? thanks!

This has been bugging me for a long time. I really want to join the specials but i have a CCJ on my credit file from a few years ago. Will it be a definate no no even though its been paid? This is the only thing i know of thats preventing me from even applying. thanks smurfette

Hi there, Got my Initial Interview coming up soon and on a visit to my local station I was told they may ask you to decribe the difference between Tulli and Jackton. I know that Tulli is the Police College and 75% of your training is covered there aswell as various other courses besides the ITC, however I'm struggling to piece a decent answer together for the Interview. i recived a letter this morning inviting me to day 1 of the recruitment process at the training centre in dundee, this consists of a group excercise/written exercise also a critical thinking test, it says i must be smart casual as it includes some pysical activities, any ideas what i should wear? also has anyone else been invited. As a Special in Lothian and Borders, do you get issued with your own personal radio? Cause i've spoke to a few people who are reg and they said they got issued there own but what about specials?
