Joining as a Special is there a fitness test? A lot of people ive spoke to have said no while others are saying yes... I dont know who to believe. Anyone know?

morning guys wondering if you have all been told aboutt he uniform now changing!! The fleece is no longer considered to be police issued uniform - sssssoooo comfy too I gonna miss being able to wear it - it is all high viz now to be worn... we getting the new style "bomber" jackets to wear - I thought this was the same as ones I was provided when had my cycle equio but is a diff one!! anyone got theirs yet?! :D

Hi, I recently handed in my application for lothian and borders and on it i had put down a family friend as a referee as he had known me for 10 years. I have since found out that when he was younger he got in all kinds of trouble and now im regretting putting him down. Is this going to result in my application being rejected?

Hi, I was just wondering about the fitness/SET dates and how they are arranged. I have noticed that some people who apply after others get their dates sonner. Is it a case of the best applicants get dates sonner or is it done by area etc. Thanks

I had a small lapse of concentration when overtaking someone on an A road 2day and crossed over double white lines when i was pulling back in. Ten seconds later i was at the side of the road with the traffic cops being given a FPN and 3 points on my licence. I sent the money away as soon as i got home and will disclose all information with recruitment, but would like to know how seriously they take this kind of thing and if my chances of progressing through the vetting stage will be decreased. If anyone else has been in this situation, some info would be greatly appreciated as i am am really worrying.

does anyone know if being a volanteer with the red cross would reduce my chances of being a special as it may be seen as another interest?

Hi all Just a quick thread to see if anybody has been attending Div Training Nights after their pass out in March or previous -personally finding them really informative and very relative given the amount of tours done now and different experiences gained from each. Also been given the opportunity to do a secondment which is even better. any thoughts ? doug

Just looking to double check before I hassle recruitment again. On the application form, it asks if there is any crime/offence committed that has been disposed of by fixed penalty. I have 3 points on my licence which I assume will declare here, but it also says including parking tickets. I have had thousands of parking tickets in my time of driving but I always pay them, they never go to court or anything. Is that what it means. If it goes to court and you get a further fine for not paying should you declare here or if it is just a parking ticket that has been paid, then you don't bother putting it in?
