Now I know that there was one back in the past but now I am making a new one. It would be interesting to see how many MSC work where (as specials obviously) and more current and up to date figures too Worth saying , its not for those applying or training to answer to this poll but rather for serving officers. Another poll can be made for that later on :D Pesky poll won't let me just whack in all the options so I had to "split" the poll into "Blocks" if your OCU isn't in the block then just click other and then select from the other blocks :D If you feel like leaving a few words about your borough here then feel free to but bear in mind this isn't a borough choices thr…

So I heard briefly about STT and even saw the video on met website, I have a feeling I'd be at home with OSG / RPU. The RPU seems like my thing....I'd like Roads Policing. Can anyone offer me some insight into how I can join OSG / RPU and tell me a little more about it. What its like. What happens with newbies from Hendon etc.... Many thanks Jon

I'm looking to live around 30-60 minutes outside of London and was wondering if anyone had any tips as to where are ideal places, taking into account police shift patterns? I'd ideally live around Milton Keynes way (for various reasons) but the trains seem to stop at around 01:30, so I'd be hanging about until after 05:00. I've identified that only the line out of St Pancras - towards St. Albans and Luton - runs throughout the night, so this might be the only feasible line for a police officer hoping to get home at night! Any advice? Is having to hang about for 2-3 hours at the end of a night shift as bad as it sounds? Cheers

I came across the role for community assessor , seems like a nice little earner .... £100 for a days work and a chance to help candidates enjoy a process , I ,myself went through not so long ago..... My question is: Can I be a serving special AND be a Community Assessor? And how is the training for Assessor done... I can just see this interfering with my SC Training :/

I've recently been thinking of my options and if all goes well with Specials , I may well choose to become a reg as it is something I really want to do. I am on my way to uni to study Law ,as soon as I finish College. However I think if recruitment opens up during or close to uni and I feel ready for it , I may pull out of University and enter the regs while transfering any credit gained from my previous study at uni into finishing off with a Law degree from the Open University to study at time that suits me whilst working (Ideally as a copper). Therefore it is important for me to be ready at all times should SC to PC recruitment opens up. Here is the point of the story:…

Hello, can anyone please confirm if the below is correct? If it is not correct, does anyone know which Boroughs do not do the 2 early, 2 late, 2 night pattern? Wanting to spend time with my two kids at home at least a few nights a week, but worried if this will be possible if doing 2E,2L,2N pattern with only one weekend in six at home? Barking and Dagenham Borough (KG) - 12 hour days over a 4 week pattern Barnet Borough (SX) - 8 & 9 hour days over a 10 week pattern. Bexley Borough (RY) - 8 & 10 hour days over a 10 week pattern. Brent Borough (QK) - 8 & 9 hour days over 5 weeks with quick changeover from nights to lates Bromley Borough (PY) - 8 & 9…

Today it was announced by AC Byrne that the number of PCs will go up in the Met from 24630 to 25909 in the next 2 years, which means the Met wants to recruit 1279 new PC by 2015. 1279 divided by 2 means the Met would like to recruit 639 new PCs in 2013 and 2014 so by the time it's 2015 they would have 25909 PCs. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9790297/Scotland-Yard-to-scrap-more-than-100-specialist-units.html Also the Met wants safer neigbourhoods to have officers from burglary squad, robbery squad and other plain clothes teams within the Safer Neigbourhood teams. The Deputy commissioner wants PCs in SNTs to be investigators so they can investigate crime a…

I have my first appearence at Magistrates court in a few weeks giving evidence as an arresting officer on something quite petty. Is there any advice, anything I should be prepared for that wasnt in the little booklet I received? Will I get my EAB when I arrive to read from? Also I understand I have to be in full uniform, does this really include full ppe, radio, body armour and hat?
