Hi, I was wondering at what stage of the process they contact our references. I just had my Day 1 and handed in my forms - does anyone get contacted before Day 2 or is it all after? I am curious just so I know when to give my referees a heads up! Also do they always contact the personal referees? Ta!

Does anyone know when the Met will begin external recruitment? I have heard rumours (it's just rumours) it's going to take place in April or May. Does anyone know anything different? Who is awaiting for the Met to recruit externally? When the Met does recruit externally, how many people will apply, do you think? I think it will be in the hundred not in the thousands because of the pre-join requirements. I believe it will have an impact, but I don't know if it will be substancial.

Hi, Can anyone can help? I am trying to find out how having the CKP will affect your initial training as a student Officer when it comes in this year. Does anyone know if it will make the training shorter? Or in what way, if any, it will change things. Thanks in advance to anyone with the knowledge

Hello! With all the changes taking place it made me think whether The Met will always be a home office force or will it end up being a policing force like BTP, who are funded by the railways. You never know. Discuss.

I left my past (and only) 2 part time jobs both with immediate effect after 1-2 weeks of starting them due to my college workload - the first one I left because I decided literally 2 days before term started that I wanted to do A levels, and the second was from severe stress after being given too many hours and lets say less than supportive colleagues/supervisors. Obviously I would not put anything negative on the reason for leaving bit of the application form, nor am I proud the way I left and it was totally out of character/a young and foolish mistake, but I can just picture the reference given back to the Met "Worked here from these dates, left with immediate effect …

MET TO INTRODUCE HIGH VISIBILITY TROUSERS The Metropolitan Police are to introduce high visibility yellow trousers in addition to the planned introduction of a high visibility yellow jacket later this year. It is thought that the regular introduction of high visibility trousers, similar to those seen worn by railway workers and bin men, would be a first for England and Wales. Chief Superintendent Smith of the Yard said "In London there are many people and a lot of street furniture, and trials of the high visibility jacket showed us that sometimes the upper body is being obscured from view which means that we are not maximising the luminosity of our officers." "It …

Hi All, wonder if anyone can answer, what would be the best borough for letting MSC do q-cars? Could this be a permanent posting? Before anyone says anything about trying to do undercover work, i'm asking because its something I'd quite like to do, like how other people want to work on other units e.g Traffic!! Cheers SCXBVPC1

The metropolitan police have announced that wages will start to match those of tube drivers. " Police officers deal with things that no ordinary person would want to deal with and they put themselves in harms way to protect others" was the statement released this morning. The new wage will start at £45,000 and then move up to £50,000 after the first two years within the Metropolitan police.

Hey guys, I have today been booked onto the June intensive course!!! Absolutely ecstatic! I have a query requiring my SIA badge. I'm currently at University and in order to fund my antics I work at the Student Union on the door (easiest job in the world if anyone is interested). Now, I finish University for good on the 22nd May and I will be leaving my job well before then. At what point do I have would I have to cease working in an SIA capacity? And is it just a case of not working or will I have to contact the SIA and request to be taken off their register/send the badge back etc? Any advice will be welcomed.
