The Home Office has announced its intention to introduce an auxiliary police service tapping in to feelings of civic pride and the poor employment market. These officers will be given basic training and then let loose on the street in the same uniform as real police officers. The Home Secretary said "in time we will look to recruit only from the ranks of these volunteers, making it impossible to get a paid job without gviing a year of free time to the service". www.dailymail.co.uk

I'm finally booked onto the June Intensive Course. I was just wondering what is the Intensive classes like? What is the pace actually like? From what I hear , the course is so intense and stressful that it's fairly hard to pass/ some people find it difficult. Can somebody shed any light on this?

Hi all, I am due to head to Newham after my training however I would very much like to get out on a ride along on the borough at some stage between now and then. If this is possible, how would I go about arranging it? Many thanks.

Just trying to get my head around this. I am transferring to the MET, starting on the 22nd April. I am aware the MPS get paid on the 20th of each month. Therefore come payday on the 20th May, will i get a full months pay. (Not including overtime, as i know that works out different and minus the 2 days) Or would i get paid for the 22nd April to the 30th April and then get a full months pay on June 20th for the month of May.

Just wondering if there is anyone with experience working on Newham who can answer a few questions. I'm thinking of doing Newham. Can anyone from Newham help me?: Are they flexible with hours? Weekend duties? I might only do the odd Fri night and Saturday or Sunday. What kind of duties do they offer? Just SNT ? Response? Others? Jailer Duty? What courses are on offer? Driving Course? Method of Entry? PNC via MDT? PNC via Aware? I'm thinking of rejigging my Borough Choices for Specials. I don't feel comfortable living and working in XB. I'd rather do somewhere else

Hi, As part of the Back Boris campaign there was a pledge to reduce the Mayoral component of council tax by 50%. There was a thread in another force area about this and it reminded me of it. I had sort of assumed it would never happen but a quick google found this: http://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2019-1.pdf (initial query) http://www.london.gov.uk/sites/default/files/2019.pdf (response) From here, http://www.london.gov.uk/disclosure-log-2012-aug-dec. Seems it's not entirely dead, I wasn't surprised by the phrase "and borough revenue officers were lukewarm on taking on the administratio of this" Shock and 'orrer. TT

On this latest round of sc to pc recruitment (march) we have had to pick regions ie north west, north east etc rather than 6 individual boroughs. Does anyone know, whos in this boat whether we will get to pick individual boroughs further down the line? Cheers

So next weekend is my station induction, but it appears I can continue the shift with a patrol after the induction (mwahaha Guypcw!!). Needless to say, I'm excited but a bit worried at the same time. Training feels so inadequate and I've never even had the chance to use a radio before... Any bits of advice or things I can learn beforehand?

Hi Guys, I applied to be a special constable with the met and I've received an invitation to the day one assessment day. I was reading through my application form and realised that I filled it out before I knew I was moving houses - so two out of my three choices are now on the other side of London to where I will be living! I was wondering if anyone knows if before the assessment centre we can change the borough preferences or once when it's done it's done ie - I can't edit the form. Cheers and thanks for all of the posts on this forum - they've been really helpful.

Hi All, Today the commissioner took part in a webchat where he said the following, " I'm pleased to say that unlike many other forces across the UK we are recruiting 5,000 police officers over the next three years." Read his webchat. http://www.met.police.uk/askmetboss/ The Met says they will get the money from the sale of buildings, reduction in management which will reduce management costs, less police staff and improve the way the Met procure kit. Well I hope it's a success, for a lot of people's sake. Now the Met needs to find 5000 people (unless they are transferees) who will need to folk out nearly a grand for getting a CKP without a guarantee of a job. Will th…
