Metropolitan Police (London)

Hi Guys, I applied to be a special constable with the met and I've received an invitation to the day one assessment day. I was reading through my application form and realised that I filled it out before I knew I was moving houses - so two out of my three choices are now on the other side of London to where I will be living! I was wondering if anyone knows if before the assessment centre we can change the borough preferences or once when it's done it's done ie - I can't edit the form. Cheers and thanks for all of the posts on this forum - they've been really helpful.

So earlier on last week I finally got my email to confirm my place on a training course.... I rang up and got it all confirmed but ended up being told something about references now being chased up (didnt hear properly as the woman rushed it through and I was also in a rush having left a class to make the call) What exactly happens at this stage? do they only just find references for you now??? and in addition to such , can you change your references? I ask because I do not have much confidence in my educational references (haven't done good in the past few years at college and this time...I have only *just* started pulling my socks up) , my work references I have no pro…

On Aware as of the 06/03/2012. Applications from specials and PCSO's welcome. Must have or be undertaking a Certificate in Police Law or have achieved a pass on the Met Standard PLC course. Specials must be IPS. PCSO's must be out of their probation. Applications must be completed by 1600 hours, Monday, 25th March 2013 and must be submitted through a line manager and Borough Commander.

I want to go to this event tomrrow but haven't a clue what time it is and what we need to bring. Does anybody have any idea what time tomorrow the recruitment event will take place and when it will finish? I'm unable to get in touch using the phone number provided on the website and when I use the other number (the one we use for Specials HR) I get stuck in a queue. Any advice will be much appreciated. Regards Jon

Hi all, I have seen quite a bit of talk about a sponsor? Or a point of contact? I have been given a training start date and confirmed as going to Newham and I believe they will be sending out my references next week, so at what point does this 'sponsor' contact you? Or have I completely mis-read something and there is no such thing?

Hey, Does anyone know what the shift pattern/Hours are like on the borough? What sort of stuff do specials undertake on the borough?

Has anyone ordered new uniform using the standard form on the intranet recently ? If I put in a request for new trousers and shirts, would I be receiving the new patrol combat trousers and wicking shirt ? Sorry if this has been answered many times before, but would quite like the new patrol uniform !!

Just interested to see how it varys, and how many hours on average I'd have to do. Thanks

Hi all, I'm guessing most have heard about or read the internal e-mail we were sent regarding Paye Tax Codes? (Don't wan't to copy and paste contents just in case we're not allowed :new_shhh: ) Is anyone doing anything about it? Like ringing HMRC? Or is everyone waiting for the MET to solve it? :new_please: I don't wan't to get taxed for two jobs at the end of this month or next :new_thmbdn2:

Anyone got these on borough yet, with the new battenburg livery on ? I think they look awful. What is everyone's initial thoughts ?

Hello everyone, I was hoping someone can link me some websites or suggest any material that would help with revision for the KEE exams for the met specials, I have the long notes and practice questions but I'm looking for different sources to give me a better understanding as some parts can be confusing.

Evening all, I have just found out I am going to Lewisham as a transferee within the next month. Am quite excited about coming back to the MET although have never worked South of the river before. Are any PCs on here that can share their experiences of the borough, types of jobs, morale, the area in general. Any development for courses? Such as class 1 driving? Etc, I am already PSU 2 trained, taser, and MOE. Any advice about the borough in general would be great from SCs or PCs

Hi All, I realise this has been asked a number of times but having looked, I have found some information, some of it quite old though so I'm going to ask i'm afraid! I am currently in the process of transferring to MPS and looking at a number of boroughs based on where I live at the moment. I'd be extremely grateful if some of you could provide me with the shifts time for the following boroughs and where the main nicks are: Lambeth Lewisham Croydon Bromley Greenwich I fully understand if you'd rather not say on here so feel free to PM me. Alternatively, and for added security i'll give you my 'pnn' address. Thanks in advance, Ytaff

Hi, Just wondering how the MPS sort out resourcing for events going on, in and around London. eg. Football resourcing, demos, Carnivals etc. Do officers get drafted in from other areas and do these officers need to be level 2 trained ? I would imagin there are a lot of abstractions from normal duties, but it is resouced mainly by specialist units or SNT etc. On that subject, some forces have every officer Level 2 trained. Is this the case with the MPS and if not how hard is it to get on a Level 2 course. Thanks in Advance.

Has anyone heard the rumour about traffic OCU merging with borough. Apparently it means traffic vehicles will be crewed by one traffic officer and one borough PC. Can anyone see this working ? What happens when you get a fast roads job, or the vehicle gets tucked up at a domestic for instance ? Food for thought ?
