Metropolitan Police (London)

Hello all, Is there a baton of honour/ less expensive certificate version etc for best MSC student officer at attestation? Kind regards HD

I'm supposed to be booked onto the June 3rd training course for the MSC yet I haven't been contacted by anyone yet! Not a timetable , not any plan , not a schedule of study , no documents.... nothing! I start in almost two weeks now. Does anyone know when I can expect to hear something or...?

Dear all I am very pleased to announce that FRY has been appointed as a mini mod in the Met area. He joins MXL160 and TROYTEMPEST in helping to keep the busiest area in the forum going. Please join me in congratulating him. Best SBG

The borough I put down as my first choice is the borough I live in. However, I'd like to hear from anyone who does police in the borough they live in what the positives and negatives are as I'm weighing up my options before starting training. Thanks.

Hi Ladies and Gents, Has anyone received a letter from the Inland Revenue recently claiming under payment of tax? Basically, they are under the impression that being a special is a second income, I have written to them explaining I am a volunteer and do not receive PAYE from this as a second income. I was wondering if anyone else has had this? and any advice.

Hi all I am looking at transferring to the Met as a Special from Essex. I have been a special with essex for 2 and a half years and am IP. Is anyone able to tell me what it's like being a Met special? What the pros and cons are? If its worth transferring? Thanks for your help! Donna

How do you get the stuff on the kit belt? I am fiddling with weird buckly things. At primary school they gave up on making me do puzzzles :/ And the cuff holder? how? ahhhhh so fiddly. First shift tommorow, I gave all my leather bits and bobs a hot bath the other day to loosen them up, But the buckly stringy things are driving me round the twist! ANY help appreciated!

Do you get any qualifications which can be transfered into the real world by any chance from being part of MSC? Leadership or management for S/Sgts and supervisors perhaps? Etc...

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

Tried to find relevant topic and didn't succeed. Question is whether there are instructors within the met police who teach some form of martial arts? I know other countries have this sort of training as compulsory, so am interested if similar system is adopted in UK. Many thanks

Hey, I was wondering if there any specials here who based at Bromley, if so what role would a newley appointed SC at Bromley be doing on duty i.e SNT, STC, Response etc, I was just curious as when I went for my ride along they put me out with response team and wondered if that is what i'll be doing there, I'm happy in any job they give me really!

What's everyones' views on the whole commissioner situation? Interesting to know! http://www.itv.com/news/london/update/2013-05-19/met-chief-under-pressure-over-plebgate-leak/

All, Thinking hard about my borough choices. My father was a regular Sergeant in HT for the majority of his career so that stands out. However, I feel I want to make my own way and Newham looks like the ideal borough from what I have read. I just wanted to try and prompt further insight into life on this borough as a SC. First, I am interested to know how it works for new SC's joining the borough. I understand the opportunities are there, but what is a new SC most likely to be doing on his/her initial shifts? Response/SNT etc? Further to the above, how is Newham as an area. I know Upton Park must provide shifts and I am sure the Olympics kept the borough busy along wit…
