Can anyone provide any insight into what is allowed/expected of MSC officers when it comes to shift length? Are we expected to complete the full tour of duty or can we for example, on a mid week evening do half a **** as to allow for our civvy jobs? I am positive that the response will largely based on a borough by borough basis but please offer insight if you can. Cheers.

This is to any STC or other officer. I was wondering what byelaws (if any) are relevant on london buses as the only ones I seem to find on google is for bus garages, stations, shelters, depots, and other premises used to provide London's bus services. Many a time when using my warrant card to travel I have been called upon to chuck rowdy or abusive (mostly drunk) people off the bus. I've always gone for the useful BOP power for any write ups but I was wondering if there was any byelaws covering ejection like the TFL railway byelaws? Also if there isn't any byelaws does anyone know why not? Cheers

I keep hearing that people are using audio notes to study, but looking on the msc training website there isn't any audio files? Is it software being used to read from the PDF files or am I looking in the wrong place?

Hello everyone! I have heard about this opportunity to be able to get an insight on policing if your an applicant and the security vetting has cleared. Basically, you go out on patrol with other officers but you just observe and it helps for future reference. I was just wondering what I would have to do in order to do these insight patrols, who do I contact and how do I go about doing it? If someone knows the answer, do tell :D

This is mainly a question aimed at officers who have filled in FPNs before for offences such as driving whilst using a mobile phone. I thought about putting it in the MSC Writing Room/Parade Room but thought if it gets answered it could be useful to a lot of people... With regards to writing a statement for a basic mobile phone whilst driving offence, how do you actually go about writing the statement? I mean I've noticed my statement writing isn't good and was hoping someone could give me a guide on how I should format my statement in what chronological order? If someone could give me a brief list of what I should include and where it should be included, it would reall…

Was walking out of Canary Wharf tube station earlier on today and saw a team of Canary Wharf Security outside. It occurred to me how similar they look to Police!! Dark blue clothing with reflective battenburg strips on their peaked caps and tac vests, duty belt, radios, a couple had dogs with battenburg strips on their harnesses too! Now, I don't disagree with canary wharf having a dedicated security team but to joe public and especially foreign visitors who might not be clued up on the difference between UK Police and Security, I can see very easily how someone could confuse a security guard (who I presume has the same powers as your average bouncer? Correct me if I'm …

So i hear we have to do these things called NCALT before we can do anything on borough... what are NCALT? And where and when can we do them? From what I hear some people here pop into the local nick and do them whilst in training but how when you have no warrant card and not allowed to use the training pass to access anywhere other than training site?

Hopefully I find out sooner than later, I want to be ready for active duty as soon as im out of training

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

I wouldn't normally ask these sorts of questions but I haven't had much luck at the training centres for advice, and well, since so many people here are sworn and had experience it would make sense to ask. I don't have any kit bags/luggage bags to hand nor does the misses or family members. What kind of kit bags has everyone got/brought for transferring their kit home? Had a look on Patrol Store and Nitton but could anyone recommend one? Picking up my uniform on the 25th June (can't wait!) Due to the greatness of my timetable (late shift), I have to get to Hendon pick up Uniform and then make my way to Bethnal Green for the remainder or the day, I am not looking forwa…

I injured my arm through hand to hand techniques during OST 1 (day 1) last week, can't remember the move but basically i had to pretend i was hitting someone and the other person used their hand to defend (hitting inside of arm). When i put any pressure on my hand through gripping, or if i have something leaning on the inside of my arm, then it hurts quite alot; also when i woke up this morning i felt a "sensation" of pain. However when i had the training i diddn't report it, as i diddnt see any visible bruising so thought it was just going to go away. Should i contact someone about it before my next training? (i.e. one of the numbers provided in the letter) but I don'…

Hi everyone, THIS WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED IN THE ESSEX POLICE FORUM TODAY. I THOUGHT THAT I WOULD POST IN THE MET FORUM TOO AS OF COURSE ESSEX IS ALSO IN THE MET AREA - BOROUGHS OF HAVERING, REDBRIDGE, DAGENHAM AND REDBRIDGE. Please read: I'm sure that most of you would agree that, once you've worked for the Police, that emergency service work gets into your blood. After just over 5 years as an Essex Special I resigned this January and soon found that this was the case! For anyone in the position of resigning, I thought that I would share what I've been doing since over the last few months. I joined the Essex Voluntary Blood Service and it's great! We need more riders…

I'm just thinking of rejigging the borough choice and wanted to know, what is it like on Brent borough? Are there any Brent SC's here? If you don't want to post here , I am more than happy to be PM'd with any relevant info What kind of duties are availible so far and what's on for new specials fresh from Hendon? also where do MSC patrol from? It seems my nearest station would be Wembley (and depending on if 24 hour buses head up there... Willesden Green and Harlesden maybe) Has LPM reached QK yet and if so what are the new changes? are you still able to walk out and patrol on your own free whim/will if you wish?
