I'm off to Mandela way to get fitted and collect my uniform on 5th September Can anyone tell me exactly what I would expect to get on the day , in order to assess what kind of bags/suitcases to take and whether or not I would need to arrange a taxi. Also do we get our PPE such as cuffs and baton on the day...

Just wondering if there is anyone with recent experience working on Hammersmith and Fulham (FH) who can answer a few questions. I'm thinking of doing H&F because its a nice large and varied area and also close to home . So easy to get to (provided the buses run 24 hrs). Can anyone from Hammersmith and Fulham help me?: Are they flexible with hours? Weekend duties? I might only do the odd Fri night and Saturday or Sunday. (studies etc.... and maybe part time job) What kind of duties do they offer? Just SNT ? Response? Others? Jailer Duty? What courses are on offer? Driving Course? Method of Entry? PNC via MDT? Apologies if this has already been discussed! I start training to be a special next month and well, recently I've been thinking about getting a tattoo. To be specific, I'm looking at getting a half sleeve Japanese themed design with koi carp etc. Now, I looked on the mets website and it says that candidates are not allowed tattoos but it does say that all tattoos must be covered ie with a long sleeve shirt. What would happen if I got this tattoo done then? Anyone else got tattoos and in the met? Cheers.

Is it just me or everyone else spotted that salary stated in Metro's paper for new PC's will be "circa 28k". And I thought it will be 19k for new PCs and 22k (which would make for more or less 28k when ldn allow. is added) for ex MSC. I am not trying to be greedy or jealous but it looks that they change the story whenever they want :-|

My trainer said to me that if you detain somebody for a search, who lets say for example, matches the description of a suspect who was seen handling a knife and that you're grounds to search him/her are due to that fact. Then, a call comes over the radio that somebody else, who actually is the suspect, has been arrested for being in possession of the knife, that you still need to complete a 5090 for the person you have detained to search even though you have not actually as of yet searched him. With the Peel centre closed down where are people booking on when they go for OST? I've tried to use the Computer Learning centre over by Simpson Hall but couldn't get in last time.

I am planning to do the hybrid training course in London - 2 x 5 day weeks followed by 13 Saturdays. What happens if i fail to make one of the training days ? Do I have to catch up in my own time or wait a while to do the missed day at a later date ?

Hi, I was talking to another colleague who is a special and we where trying to find something out. I know Response Driving is not currently available to specials, but As some of you might know the specials at WW have a Jag which is all funded externally, through sponsorship. If the money was to be raised externally, through sponsorship or other ways, Is a borough commander likely to authorize response training for a special if it is funded this way and would cost the Met nothing? Not planning on doing it, just a general query.
