Hi, Can anyone shine any more light on Special Chief Inspectors and what there going to do? I heard that if the BOCU has 100+ Specials then they will have one. Does that mean it will then be two S/Insp? Or still just the one. I know its early days and what I have heard might just be a load of old tosh, but just interested on there role.

just a quick question about travel entitlement.. if you live in a borough that is far from the borough you're working in, that your only option is to take national rail to get to your chosen post, would the met pay for your rail ticket or do you have to pay out your own pocket for a ticket every time you travel to the borough you are working in? appreciate any replies :new_wave:

I've got my Day 1 assessment for the regulars tomorrow and the confirmation email states "If you haven't already been sent an email directly from the Met Police, requesting you to complete their security vetting forms, you will do soon. Please follow the instructions on the email regarding the completion of these forms and which of the forms you are required to bring with you to your Day 1 assessment". I have received NOTHING! Can anyone see this being a problem?? Will I be told that I can't take the assessment?? My own fault really as I should have asked what had happened to my vetting forms a few weeks ago! Thanks, Bdot

Hi All, I was having a look at my competency examples for my interview tomorrow. Thinking back to my last interview I was never asked any questions relating to the 'Effective Communication' competency. I remember reading somewhere that you are indirectly assessed on the communication competency during the interview. Is this correct and should I have an example for this competency just in case?

What do you do when you meet a total and utter idiot at training? Sound bizarre? I just remembered meeting a moron of the highest order at my Day 1. Now I can imagine candidates can come woefully under-prepared, or even with a total lack of knowledge of the role (eg. the young gentleman who asked me, in sequence, what the minimum commitment was, when we get to do 'undercover work with the drugs squad' , when we get firearms training, and finally, how much we would get paid) However, I struggled to deal with one individual who spent his time in the waiting room loudly bragging about his various criminal indiscretions, how he couldn't wait to issue fines (something which …

Hi guys, Currently working in Essex but have always been set on moving to the Met and I see they are recruiting for transferees once again. I'm currently response and level 2 trained in my force. On the Met site it states transferees will go into a neighbourhood or response role. Does anyone know how they decide which role you will go into? Ideally I would like to stay on a response shift. Are there any serving Met officers who have made the switch and can offer any advice? Are you pleased you made the move? Also, can anyone offer any pointers on the transferee interview? What does it involve? Any help would be great! Thanks!

The London Evening Standard has a story in it's Friday 4th October edition claiming that the subsidised rail travel for police officers is to stop for new recruit regulars. (They will still get free travel on TfL). The regulars used to get free rail travel but this was changed to subsidised because the taxman claimed it was a benefit in kind. The reason given is that the Met want to recruit more Londoners to reflect the local community rather than having them commute from outside London but is this just another excuse to cut costs?

A trainer was showing us the PNLD site and said it was good to use but never told us whether or not we get access/a login for it. I think it would be a really good resource for my Policing and uni... Does anyone know if and how I can get a hold of some login details for or without having to pay the £50 odd subscription This is met specific btw

Obviously now im going to put all my other shirts away, and make sure only gets one used/washed at a time so i don't end up losing account.
