So, I've just heard from a friend that one Borough has appointed a load of Specials to the rank of A/S/Sgt, including quite a number of people who have not even finished their PACS yet - so they are no where near IPS. I always thought that A/S/Sgts should fulfil the job description and requirements of a S/Sgt - otherwise what's the point? Therefore, this is a crazy decision! Apparently, special shifts have now been planned for these people only, so that they can gain their IPS as quickly as possible, but at the same time, the MSC leadership on this Borough by doing that, are ignoring the majority of SCs! Do you believe your training was adequate in preparing you for your role as a Police Officer? What type of initial course did you undertake? What training manuals/paperwork did you work from? How many sessions did you have? Have you had any continuation training or developmental meetings? The Met has looked at a few different training courses in the last couple of years and all of it's current Probationers are either Ex-Specials or Ex-PCSO's. Do you feel as a Probationer or MSC that the current training is suited, or would you prefer to see another system implemented. Who does it better?

As of last month new recruits won't be entitled to travel on Normal trains for free anywhere in or out of London to try and keep recruitment within London. Just wondered peoples thoughts on this move and how it will affect new recruits? Personally I can see this being the beginning of the end of free travel for all officers...

As the topic says I have a week to go until I start training. A little nervous to say the least. Does anyone have any last minute tips and or advice? i.e is there any pre-reading material?

I have a shift coming up this weekend with ST, starting from Canterbury Court Base. I know the address and know the location However I haven't even been there myself. Does anyone know where exactly the base is within that massive building? From what side is the entrance? The shift is day-time, so at least I won't have to fumble in the dark Many thanks!

Hey everyone does anyone know about going from stage 6 to stage 8. Just curious about what stage 7 was. I'm guessing stage 8 is now where the vetting starts if I'm correct. This is for the Met and role of special constable. Thanks.

There's been a few emails being sent to specials on certain boroughs that the met are reviewing whether ckp will be a requirement for specials. I have no idea if there's any truth in this but I've seen emails and it looks legit, so I'm holding off until the last minute before I start a course.

So, I'm apparently part of the 1st new group of MSC who will have the new style of Attestation. We are and will be allowed to bring family and friends to our passing out and will be supplied with a buffet! Not sure of the exact details as they only briefly went over it because I asked why we are going to Attest 3 weeks late.... It's about time they did this as my family of officers would want to come as well as my very proud Nan and Girlfriend. Hi guys, I attest on Sunday and well, I'm having slight issues with transport. Basically, on Sunday, due to engineering work the Northern Line is closed. Great. Not to mention I live about an hour away from London Waterloo on national rail services. They want us to be at Hendon for 0800 and I'm pretty much screwed now I think. So I've been on TFL and found some dodgy alternative route which is really not ideal what so ever. So I'm thinking about driving down with my family.
