Did anybody else see the picture of a, 'Metropolitan Special Constabulary' cap badge on the intranet news page two days ago? Hopefully it was just a mock-up as opposed to an up and coming uniform change....

Hi everyone I have my first shift soon, which I am very excited about, but I'm wondering where to put everything I have to carry, and if there's anything else people recommend having on you? So somewhere on my belt I have: Cuffs Baton CS Document holder First aid .... We were issued with all of this after we had our OST training so I'm not sure how and where to attach it all!...any advice please? My cuffs are also very stiff...should I use some WD40 or leave alone? Where do people tend to keep their cuff keys too? I know to bring as many extra gloves as I can fit in my pocket (and pens!), but is there anything else useful? I know some officers carry torches but ca…

Hi there, I had a few questions and thought i would just post them all in one topic to save space 1) Could anyone give me a list of all the kit Met officers are given? 2) Do met regulars/specials get personal issue airwave radios? 3) Does the met recruit specials all year round? Thank you, Nick

Dear Applicant, This is to formally acknowledge the receipt of your application for the role of Special Constable. We are currently undertaking a major IT system upgrade. This might entail delays in the processing of your application and we apologise for this in advance. Thank you. Expert Services - Recruitment Man I hope it doesn't delay me in getting stuck in with this application.

Sorry if theres already a topic about this, but am I assuming correctly that the reason that the application status website is not working due to the IT upgrade? Thanks Dan

Hi all, I'm filling out my online application for MSC and having had a look at the website I quite fancy OSU out of Hendon. Only problem is when I get to the "borough choices" section of the application the only reference to OSU is "A new Posting Preference called Operational Support Unit has been created for specialised MSC Officers who will be operating out of Peel Centre, Hendon (NW base) at present." However I cant see a posting preference called Peel Centre, OSU, or Hendon!! Any ideas?

Hi people. The SOROC book runs in conjunction with the SOROC PDR as we know. So when you fill something in in your SOROC and have it signed off, you then make an entry into your PDR. Now when ive completed all of the bits at the top of the PDR (with situation action result etc, pg.2-11) for each activity and the Diversity things (pg.19), am i then suitable to be signed off for IPS? or do you have to have a little X in every single one of the Competency Cumulative Matrix boxes? And if it is the case that you need an X in every little box, where do you record reference numbers for these? Cheers...

It's been a long road to getting my warrant, and I'm over the moon! Apologies if this isn't worth a thread, but I'm just buzzing at the moment. I'm CW, for those CW already on here. Edit: Although the hard work has only just began.

I've actually directed this query to the relevant people at HR but have had no reply as yet.... just wonder if anyone is "in the know". What will be the situation with regards to Train Travel ON DUTY, in uniform, after April 1st 2011? - after which point only PCs that have "opted in" will retain free rail travel. I am aware that some officers, when out and about on foot, use the trains to get from A-B on the borough (especially on boroughs with very limited TFL train/tube services).

Hey everyone, I have just completed my Special Constable application online. What I wanted to ask was a few questions, I know most have already been answered on this useful forum but I hope you don't mind! I have dyslexia but I have been told that on the Day 1 Assessment, if I have ten or more spelling/grammar mistakes, that is an automated fail? I'm currently a Senior Water Sports Coach and Sea Cadet so have lots of experience with communities and so forth, but what would you say are your top five tips for having a successful Day 1, as that is what matters for me. if i am lucky enough to pass Day 1, Day 2 will be a breeze! Also is there a clear progression path for S…
