Our Chief Superintendent reckons they will hire "500 regulars in this financial year", which appears to be roughly in line with Boris Johnson's announcement. So the maths is: Regular Jobs Available: _____________________________________ 500 Subtract PCSO's already passed Regs Assessments:_____________ 218 Equals.........................................................................============= Remaining posts available for Specials:________________________ 282 And then the Specials who already passed Reg Assessment and are IPS have priority. I guess there are about 500 of these (but increasing rapidly) So it is: 500 specials going for 282jobs, the odds are…

What are the Mets views on Specials or Regulars using suppliments to aid workouts? The suppliment I am looking at contains the following: - Geranamine - Schizandrol - Methylxanthines - Beta-Alanine - Creatine Monohydrate - L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate! Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi there. I'm a student journalist at the London College of Communication. I'm making a radio documentary on kettling. I'm speaking to Paul Davis from the Police Federation this week but would really like to interview a police officer who's been on the front line of a kettle in the recent student protests in London. The programme I'm making isn't being broadcast at the moment but I'd really like the voice of a police officer who's experienced this first hand. If you're interested please send me a message. Best wishes.

As the tickets go on sale in May for the 2012 Olympic Games, I was wondering weather I should buy any! I have passed my Day 1 and have my Day 2 coming up very shortly. If I pass the Day 2 I shall be based in Newham! Does anybody know if specials get any benefits when it comes to the games, i.e free tickets to certain events, or do we have to buy the tickets ourselves? Thanks!

Do the Met give out full uniform on the first day? My friend who's got his start date in March will have to take all of his on the tube back home, though I'm in the area on business with my car on the same day as his first day and said I would give him and his kit a lift home as he lives 10 minutes from me, he's not quite sure when he gets his uniform but thinks it's on the first day. Thanks Dan

Been IPS for a while now and having worked on response I am now keen to work more independently and start generating my own work, arrests etc. Was thinking about cycle courses and had a few questions.. 1. I may be moving to my borough's STT, is there any possibility of getting a cycle course through them? 2. I've heard of different levels of cyclist (level 1, response cyclist??), what are the grades in the Met and what can I as a special get? 3. Also heard that specials are not given the full complement of cycle kit, is this true? Anyone in the Met with experiences of doing the cycle training with any info would be appreciated, either a reply here or via PM. Cheers …

Does anyone know if the Met accept transfer officers from the civil nuclear constabulary?

I am currently training at hendon, and i was given a shoulder number different from other people. When i asked about it i was told i was going to safer transport. I was A little bit upset because i wanted to work on borough and now i have been drafted to the safer transport team. Do other people have this problem too.

The figures came out a few days ago fromTPHQ and Bexley RY specials are now number 1 in the entire MET for hours and are also number 1 in the entire southeast for Arrests, beating number 2 in the southeast by more than double. Just thought i'd post it as there are a few from RY on here who put in massive amounts of hours each week.

Hi Folks, Just a quick note about this, it should've hit your inbox about training from CO3 on Major Incident handling. I've recently attended it and I would strongly suggest people start booking themselves on courses. There are very few on weekends so unless you can take a day off to do it then get yourselves on them ASAP as they are mandatory for all MSC Supervisors I found some of the input to be very useful and there is a presentation from some other CO groups as well. Regards, WAID

Hi all, Just a thought which came up into my head. Is it easy to transfer as a special from one borough to another? Thanks
