I currently have my date for my Day 1. I would just like some people in relation with the personal references. I understand that you have to have two referees who work/worked in a professional capacity. Is there anyone who can give me a little bit more information on this as the two people I was thinking of using was, one; a neighbour of 14 years of is a bank room supervisor and the second is a person who I worked with during my work experiences at school and have kept in contact ever since, her current work status is unknown at the moment. I worked with her in administration during my work experience.

NOT ANOTHER THREAD?! Anyone heard anything on what the latest is on us mere OCU MSC officers getting the chance to do l2 PO training? The only thing I can really bring to the table is some DAC saying they were considering BOCU MSC to be trained in this. Been quiet ever since. Any takers? 52TP, SBG? VII

When looking at CRIS you have the option to go to "launch portal" which allows you to view CADs, however I don't seem to have access yet. Do any Specials have access to this? If so, who do I ask? It would make life easier as IBO always seem busy with other things to print us off CADs.

Is it just me, or is it refusing to log anybody else on?

I just wondered if anyone knew the channels to go down in order to try and obtain a vehicle for out MSC team. Our BSU used to have a Ford Transit minibus with blues and MDT but it had to go back to somewhere. Is there any way of getting one for our team from somewhere central or if there is a store of vehicles somewhere?

I hear and have just read that the Police Station at East Ramp is to relocate. The new build will not be too far away at Polar Park, an industrial site just off Bath Road. Below is the new premises that have been let to the MPA. The custody suite, at Polar Park, should be on line this year once some facilities issues with BAA are addressed.

I have both assessments coming up during training, just wondering how they are assessed to get some information beforehand. Individual? Groups? ETC.

Hi, I'm thinking of doing my Specials posting at RBKC, is there anyone here who currently serves there or has done so previously? What is it like and what sort of things would I typically be involved in? Many Thanks.

Hi all, I applied to MSC at the end of December, and so far all I have had is one email saying that they are busy and to bear with them. Is it usual to have to wait over 2 months before even getting any indication of interview date?

Whilst mulling over the financial challenges currently facing the MET, I came across an idea that could save the force a fair amount of money and also improve the standard of its officers! The crux of it is: Any officer over the rank of Inspector, when thinking of applying for promotion, would be expected to work for 18 months for free in that role before being allowed to submit an application. The officer would work their normal hours under their current rank (their "full time job"), and then be expected to dedicate 25 hours per month of their spare time unpaid performing the role of the rank they are considering applying for (perhaps labelled their "special job"). Once…

London Mayor Boris Johnson has lifted a recruitment freeze at Scotland Yard amid difficult questions over the force's financial future. The Tory politician said an extra £42 million will mean 32,510 full time officers will be employed by May 2012. He said the force is bucking a trend seen across England and Wales as chief constables cut numbers and slash costs to save cash. But the news means only a handful of posts will be up for grabs as the latest figures showed there were 32,481 officers policing the capital. Police projections also revealed the number of officers is likely to fall by April 2013 to 31,913 and 31,800 the following year. Mr Johnson revealed the mo…
