Are they still operational?

I've finally managed to match up a day that I'm off with an OST 1 course, and it's ended up being at Havering Patrol Base Gym. Trouble is, I can't find any information about whereabouts in the borough it is, or any of the facilities. Can someone post the details here, including if parking is available please? Alternatively, can someone private message me? Thanks

Hi all Had my 1st day of OST today with handcuffing. I found it more difficult than expected. Remembering what to say and do and what to do with the cuffs.... Has anyone else found it challenging? and if so where you ok in the end? Thanks

Hi guys, I'm new on the forum altho been a MSC officer for coming up to four years on a north London borough. I will be putting in my application to join as a regular PC in the next week (we have until the end of the month I belive). The thing I'm a bit worried about the new training system. Does anyone here know if its true that you have to do a 16 days course as well as a 15 days course before you get to be a regular police officer? I don't know how I can do this as I have already got a job and don't think my boss will be to chuffed if i ask for weeks off work ! Is there any one in the same boat?

Does the MSC ask for the amount of sick days/time you've had off of work? I'm just a bit worried as my workplace is rubbish at keeping accurate records of when we're in and when we're not and also when I've booked weeks off they still schedule me which obviously doesn't look great when the MSC will most likely look at my 'time had off' records.

Does anyone know if the River Police are taking on new specials anytime soon ? I have applied recently to be a special, and reading their section on the London Met Police website it says you need to be a special for 2 years before applying, but given recent Budget constraints etc they might need extra personnel sooner ? I love the water and live near the river. Grew up with one foot in the water, so the River Police would be a really fun and exciting place. Does anyone on here work at the River Police? if you can shed some light on this or have any info that would be very kindly appreciated Thanking you Kindly.

Hi there I applied to the MSC on the the 29/03/11. I have been made aware that the status of my application is "PNC check". I also received an email asking me to consider a different borough as my first choice. Does that mean that my application has passed the paper sift? Will my caution affect PNC and vetting. The caution I received was for a family dispute which got out of hand with my sister and there were a few threats and hands raised. I was informed by the Essex police that at this stage i would be wasting my time and theirs however I decided to apply so I can got an official response. Can anyone shed some light on my situation? I may regret posting this ... however lets give it a go anyway. In a previous thread a number of officers have indicated at least a mild dislike of Traffic officers, I know by previous experience on borough that some officers have a general dislike and have some ideas as to why this is. I would like to explore, though, what the views of others are. To state my position - I am permanently posted to CO15 (Traffic OCU), I look after a small team of SC's and really enjoy the policing I undertake. I had my day 1 last Monday (21st March) Would just like to know how they inform you about your results, as on the invitation letter it states by letter if you fail and by email otherwise. I rang the met and spoke to a woman and she said they are sending me out a letter but she said they send out letters if you pass or fail, is this correct? Has anyone recently passed or failed their day 1? This is my second attempt for MSC, if I fail again I will not be trying again

Hi guys, I'm in the process of waiting for my day 2, and I'm already thinking about which borough I would like to go on. I would really like to join the borough I live and work on. However, everyone has told me it's a bad idea. But I really want to work on it. I was thinking about Barnet too. I want to work on team, which borough would you guys suggest?

This question has been touched upon in a few recent threads and I'm just interested in the split of forum members on this subject. Of the Specials I know personally it seems be be a about a 40/60 yes/no split. So, are you based on the same borough in which you live? Hi all, I have been thinking that it may be a worth while idea if we try and do some sort group outing in the near future? The two options I thought of were: 1) Thorpe Park Day - Separate the boys from the men! 2) A Powerboat (RIB) Day on the River Themes - I can get access to two RIBS (Photo at bottom) if I let my work know in advance. This will mean we have a limit on attendance and also a requirement for another qualified driver. A bit of planning so maybe not ideal for us? My Work RIBs: Whats your thoughts on this? Any ideas what to do? Are you up for something like this?
