For the first time, I used the Met non-emergency number (0300 123 12 12) to report an argument that turned in to a lot of shouting and threats of violence. It appeared to be a neighbour dispute that was rapidly getting out of hand. I was surprised that the call was answered immediately (for some reason I expected a bit of a queue) and it sounded like a CCC operator answered. The operator asked me if I thought it needed an I grade, to which I said no - so she graded it as a "significant" S and she gave me the CAD number. A response unit arrived after about 8 minutes. I was curious as to who answers the calls to this number? Is it CCC, or a dedicated 'call centre'?

Had my support presentation the other day. Do I wait for a chunk of hair to be pulled out now or is it just a saliva swab on day 1?

Hi all, To make this a brief post, I was attested 16th April - Last week.. Posted to PL - LEWISHAM BOROUGH Had my induction tuesday 2 days ago... after induction went home and thought about what lewisham told me (also that they dont have any daytime duties for specials, its only late turn and night) - understood that it was not the borough I wanted to stay at. Have not been on any patrol yet.. Want to change borough... Ive asked my SGT and he wasnt too happy and said it would take a few months!!! I was astonished at how long it takes to change borough... Any ideas or things I can do to maybe speed up the process ? Anyone else I can contact for this or is it…

Hi all, I start training next month on the Saturday course and I was wondering where I stand on booking time off work during that time. I work Monday-Friday so taking my holiday time won't directly affect my training but I'm not sure if the Met email anything like important documents or extra lesson notes between training days during the week? Also is it at all possible to take a training day off? I hate to ask but my manager keeps telling me I have to book my time off so any information I could get to help plan in advance would be appreciated. Cheers, -Paul

Morning, I've tried a search to no avail, anyone know the official dates for switching to and from long sleeve shirts back to the shorter variety (while the Met still has them)? Cheers

I've recently received the good practice guide for the MSC PC to PS process. In it details the competencies which temporary sergeants have to hit. There is a recurrent phrase and that is 'while maintaining their IPS'. Now I assumed this was essentially a PDR objective but I can't find any reference to what this means. What I'm missing and or worried about is as I continue to do a sgts role profile I do less of the IPS competencies. At least demonstrably, after all i want my guys to be claiming the evidence. So, am I going to come in one day as a future substantive MSC PS and discover I'm not IPS anymore It happened to alot of people when policy changed so Id like to …

Just a discussion about arrest figures and sanction detections and I was wondering whether if any of you out there get pressured by your S/Sgt/S/Insp to be getting in figures regulary, these include stop and searches. Compared to the regs some MSC figures are awful but some are much better, in terms of MSC arrests and SD's. There are specials I know of that have been in years and never made an arrest yet there are others 6months - 1 year in who are equally the figures of regs and what a reg officer is supposed to be getting every month. Me personally I love getting SD's because now it seems the only way to prove that you've done a good job, nothing else gets recognised …

Apologies in advance - I'm sure this has been asked before but the forum doesn't allow you to search on 'OST' I know OST expires in 6 months - is there any grace period? Mine is due to expire, but the next course I can make is about 2 weeks after my expiry date. So two questions: - As soon as the 6 months hit, does that mean I can no longer go out on duty? - If I take a course after the 6 months (so 6 months+2 weeks), do I have to re-do a 'full' OST? Mine expires in the next few days, but I've had no email from HR .... Cheers guys.

Hey guys and girls, I have my Day One tomorrow for the MSC. In my letter it says there will only be a written test and interview. On the MET website however it mentions role plays (I checked, and it was relating to the MSC selection). Can anyone confirm which is true? Cheers.

Hi folks, Not had to do this yet, but have come close to it a few times now. For those of us who live outside london and have the misfourtune to stumble across an offence in 'the counties' . What happends? I know that you have the power, but does this mean you follow it through and do the custody bit,EAB, cris (equivolent),interview,PND and case papers etc. ??? Do counties have CPU's???
