Anyway, i was wondering if one of you knowledgable lot would know if there is a direct link to it i can get to from home or even if someone has a copy that they can email to my address. There's one other account of a Met day one that I could find that's really good in another section but I thought I'd write one which will hopefully help show people a bit more in depth of whats going to happen on their day ones. But it's only my first post so please feel free to delete if it's a waste of space! Bit of an intro on me - I'm 19, I live in Essex and I'm on my gap year. My day one was on Monday. On the day, I woke up pretty early so that I could get ready properly. My day 1 was scheduled for 13:00 and I got up at 8:00, but i do live a good while away from Hendon and I had to get petrol. So I left the house at about ten (I was reading the competencies for a w…

Anyone else had the pleasure of using the new People Services yet? Im on the phone to them now, been waiting to speak to some one for 13 minutes and they're still saying it may take over 15 minutes to answer!!! After all the money spent on it you would think you they have enough people answer the phones!

The rumours have been flying in the Met that Martin Tiplady, the director of HR, has been suspended. Has anyone heard anything specific as to what for, as the Met have been very quiet on the issue.

If you are a regular and have not seen it we are now having to opt-in to the ATOC scheme if you wish to keep it....opting in involves paying between 6 and 12 ish pounds a months (the exact cost is yet to be determined and the more people that opt in the lower the cost will be). The contribution reflects the tax that the MPS is now having to pay towards the scheme. i.e. you are paying your own tax liability. You need to opt in by the 24th I believe to be able to benefit from the start of the scheme when it goes live on the 1st of April - you will be issued a new travel pass. Warrant Cards will no longer be accepted on national rail services as of the 1st of April 2011. F…

Hi guys, I was talking to some of my fellow police cadets about how their Day 1's and Day 2's went for the MSC and when I asked them what they done some said "I never done this..." and others said they did. Most of them said they didn't have to take an eyesight test but did have to compensate for that by doing something extra. Just wondering if anyone else has seen or heard similar to this. Also, do you have to get your eyes tested at your opticians and then take the results to your Day 2?

Two simple questions: 1. Do Met Specials still get a boot allowance? 2. If so, what is the exact process for reclaiming the money (which forms etc). I asked various people at Hendon, and I am still confused. Cheers

Hi, just wondering if specials in the borough of Haringay are allowed to attend football games (Tottenham in haringay) . I heard somewhere that only PCs can go, is this true?

I start my training at Hendon tomorrow for the 4-week intensive course. I plan on taking a black pen and a small notebook with me that will fit into my back pocket - is there anything else I should take with me? Also, can anyone tell me whether I should be wearing a tie? Or will shirt and trousers be sufficient? Obviously I don't these are major concerns (or I wouldn't be leaving it quite so late to ask) but it saves any last-minute doubts when I'm on the train in the morning.
