Hi all, After receiving my letter today, who is thinking of the Special option? Also, could any active Specials give us their feedback - training, do you enjoy the job, hours of duty, etc. I am thinking of doing this whilst my application in on "hold" and that I won't be offered a PCSO role anytime soon. Comments appreciated Ta

Greetings fellow applicants, anybody got a day one on the 19th march? i only applied in November yet here i am already set for a day one 3 months later, no questioning it i have been very lucky! just wondering if anyone else is in my position? I find a lot of people have recieved a letter saying that noboies getting in for 2 years.. this is questionable as many people will leave, retire, get sacked etc etc in this period. the only conclusion i can draw is that people who applied before this letter sre going to be ok, otherwise how did i get my day one? Extrordinary!

I just received my post and noticed a letter with the Hendon post mark on it and to say I was bricking opening it is an under statement!!!! Its an update about the update which if you haven't already guessed! tells us nothing. It refers us to the recent letter about developing options and tells us they are still developing options and thanking us for our patience!! Anyone received this update letter?

Thought that headline would grab a few peoples attention! Not sure how many people on here read Police Oracle posts but thought this was worth sharing, two people have now confirmed they have received letters stating there application will not be going any further, however I would stress these are people who are yet to do there day 1 assessments, wonder if these people form part of the nearly 2000 applicants mentioned in the Jan update?! Is the Specialist Protection section of Protection Command an area accesible from a response role or would one have to have additional experience either in a less specialist protection role such as DPG or perhaps another firearms role first. Purely speculative question, interested to find out a bit more about the normal progression.

Hi, I'm due to start training for the Metropolitan Police 3 weeks today. Since everything I know about the police could, honestly, be written on a postage stamp. Can anybody offer their advice, top tips, light hearted experiences during training etc. I've read the thread about the newbie at the police station I was hoping for something similar about the training. Anybody else starting on the 15th March, looking forward to meeting you all.

Sorry to say guys and girls but after speaking to a friend who works as a PC in the Met atm, they are binning people who are awaiting start dates, those that applied in later 2009 are being called up/written to and binned. dont ask my what dates they are classing as late 2009. but thought everyone should be aware, apparently people have allready been informed....

Well as of this afternoon I am no longer in the queue, I withdrew my application with the Met. I have spent quite a while weighing up my options, I am not willing to wait around any longer. I feel like we have all been treated very badly, misled and lied to. I have seen no signs that we are about to turn a corner, indeed I see an increasing number of signs suggesting the situation may get worse still before it gets better. I am leaving the process with a poor impression of the Met which I find a shame because I went into it full of excitement and hope and a strong desire to work for the organisation. I shall be heading back up to Scotland and have applied from scratch t…
