Hi all Just thought i'd let you know the outcome of a call i had with recruitment yesterday regarding our update letters. These will not be sent out until the end of June. Reason given was the volume of letters required and the time taken to put them together!! Not good, but what can you do?! Cheers Heardy

So despite applying to become a Special back in Jan, they somehow "lost" my email and I missed all the Spring training dates, but luckily I have now been offered June 14th - November 20th (every Saturday). Has anyone else out there? The emailed urged us to call immediately as the places go so fast, and if they hadn't heard from us within 5 days they'd assume we weren't interested! So if you're waiting for a start date then check your emails!!! I was offered any borough I wanted, except for Westminster which was already full within the space of a couple of hours! Took Kensington & Chelsea, not for any particular reason other than it's easy to get to. Anyone else? Re…

Hi all I would like to do a little experiment and find out how many people on this website are currently awaiting their Met PC start date. Please only reply once and don't use this thread for any discussion - merely a list of names. I'll start: Ryobi

I have read with interest over the past several weeks about all the speculation regarding start/non start dates for external applicants. Okay, the Met made a mistake by inviting far too many applicants to Day 1 and Day 2 but the applicants are jointly to blame for building up their own hopes. Afterall, it is only an interview and they are not obliged to offer jobs to anyone who has passed them. There is no excuse though for the Met to have offered people start dates and then withdrawn them, that is totally unfair. However, in my opinion (and others within the job) there are going to be VERY FEW new starts over the next 12 - 18 months, if not longer. We are blessed with…

Hi there I thought it might be interesting to see how our lives have changed in the time we've been applying and waiting for MET start dates. This might be for both good and bad reason - or if you're like me a bit of both!! For me - i completed my Day 2 in the first week of March 2009 - but advised i couldn't start until August because of my honeymoon! Since March the following has happened: May 2nd - got married June - found out we were going to be parents again (wedding baby!!) :whistle2: June 17th - my Dad passed away after a short battle with the big C July 10th - 24th - Honeymoon in Florida July - told i'd have a September start date  August - t…

Well .... I've known for some time this was probably going to land on my doormat. Received Saturday... Basically theres a lot of nonsense in it about a tough economic climate, become a special instead etc. but the main bit is copied below: I promised to keep you informed of the situation and let you know as soon as an outcome was decided upon. This has now been done and regretfully we will not be in a position to offer you a place on a training course for the foreseeable future. For this reason, sadly your application will now be terminated with immediate effect.

I along with all you lot, i am waiting for a start date, or some information as to whats going on, interesting this. For the mods, this information is widely availble from the MPA website. http://www.mpa.gov.uk/committees/hrremuner...2010/100218/16/ Pre-joiner learning 17. The MPS is currently exploring an approved prior learning programme based on the ‘Surrey Model’ for all new police recruits. 18. It is proposed that all candidates for the MPS will complete a Police Law and Community Certificate in their own time and expense. Delivery will be undertaken by a college of further education and its current format is a 16 week part time course costing £650.00. It d…

HI All, I realise this is probably the million dollar question, have been waiting for a year to join the met but have had no news on any recruitment events. I am about to start as a Met Volunteer. I work full time and am not so keen on starting as a special. So after a waiting a year am not even on the list as not seen any events to apply. Does anyone have any news on when an application process might start again? I realise there are many waiting to start so assuming it could be a while? Thanks Martha

Hey, As in my previous thread i am starting 12th Feb 2010, was just wondering from anyone on here how long it takes to get section housing approved? I have the app on email from the property people and was just wondering how long it has taken people to get it so i make sure i aplly in plenty of time to avoid any dissapointment. Am posted to Haringey and from my limited knowledge of London i am led to believe that Finchley would be the best place for me to try to get in? Any advice welcome. Cheers, Whit

Lets start a running list of names of those of you who applied for PC and ended up getting the SC. Would be interesting to see how many of the 2000 signed up. Yes, sorry, another Specials thread. I'll start then: Ryobi: start date 10 April till 18 September.

Well, the excitement of being told I had a start date was soon taken away when I received a letter saying that my application has been rejected...apparently on references...going to appeal the decision, but if I don't win, it will be a six month wait for me...Seems that I will need to do some rethinking on the career front. Police staff position for a while away from the uniform side, but will consider becoming a special and then apply again middle of next year. Good Luck to everyone else, and watch that letter box, there may be a vacancy for the June 28th intake.

what does everyone think this letter is going to say then? other than the obvious of offering alot of people special constable positions? PCSO positions? PC positions? any ideas?
