Does anyone have any experiences of what the section house rooms are like at the one near Sunbury? I have been posted to Lambeth, but there are no spaces at the Croydon site so I'll be completing the remainder of the 25 week course at Sunbury, once my intake leaves Hendon. The commute from my H/A will mean that I have to start my day at 0430hrs to get to Sunbury and be ready for 0800. Which just isn't practical. Does anyone have any advice that they can offer? Cheers in advance.

So, who was part of the August 09 Campaign and received their results? I'm aware many of us were told that we shouldn't expect to receive them until the 16th at least, but seeing as how my results came in the post today I just wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything or if I was just a bit lucky! Also, when is your Day 2 - wanting to see how many people will be popping up on the same day as me! Although last time I posted about Day 1 there was no-one, so I don't hold much hope this time either

I took the opportunity to take my parents down to Whitehall this morning for the Remembrance Ceremony, the performance of the forces, the bands and the dear old veterans was exemplary, I have to say however that the showing from the Met in multiple ways was pretty shocking. The dress standard of those standing only metres from the cenotaph was shameful, I only saw one pair of boots that had ANY polish on them out of maybe 50 all day. Jackets were dirty, there was a mix of short jackets, long jackets, officers were swaying, crossing legs, chewing the end of their radios, putting their arms inside their sleeves like a child in the cold, kicking their heels. One inspector w…

My force where i live do a response course in the inital training and wondered if it was the same format, or, do you have to do your 2 years probation first before you can drive. Thanks for any help

Just read on another forum that Surrey Police will be employing new PCs early 2010 for people holding pass certificates of 50% or over. http://www.surrey.police.uk/careers/careers_officer.asp So if anyone can't stand the wait maybe its another option?

Following an article a few days ago in the Guardian about "new" style armed units in London which was seen as innacurate and typical confused reporting by our more informed posters on here, they have released a further article linking the move to a specific spate of Turkish gangland shootings - still very broad statements on the nature of the new armed units they supposedly oppose. New Guardian Article The gang shootings that put police with machine guns on London's streets Spate of tit-for-tat murders between Turkish drugs gangs is behind Met's decision to deploy armed patrols It began with a scuffle in a snooker hall. By all accounts, the altercation at the Manor Cl…

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, well...been reading these posts for months and thought i'd try my hand at one of my own! I had my Met police Day 2 in September and had a phonecall from vetting on Friday to say that I had passed vetting and my RO officer would be in contact from Hendon. Does anybody else know what will happen next? Are my refs complete yet or is that still to come? Furthermore, I have read that the vetting process continues right up until my start date? But am i right in thinking that my background/financial status has all been cleared? I guees i've read so many vetting horror stories on hear that I worked myself up into thinking i'd never pass an…

Guardian Article Metropolitan police plans for units armed with submachine guns to patrol areas of London plagued by violent drug gangs have thrown the capital's police authority into turmoil. In a break with the traditional image of the unarmed bobby on the beat, a team of 18 constables, led by an inspector and two sergeants, will be deployed to serve as a deterrent to gangs in heavy crime areas such as Brixton and Haringey. The officers - some on motorbikes - will be armed with Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine guns capable of firing up to 800 rounds a minute and Glock semi-automatic pistols. The new unit will come from within CO19, the specialist firearms unit that…

Hi all, I know there are a lot of people on here that have passed day 1 and day 2 but wondered if there are many that have passed day 1 and 2 and also had references taken as well but still have no start date?? It all seems to be such a long long process,I work for the prison service and thought they were slow at getting things done but this is ridiculous!!!
