Metropolitan Police (London)

Hello just wondering if anybody has completed the PLC course exam, i am currently doing it now and i am worried that i am not taking alot in as the work books take up the whole week to complete. just feel like i am reading the relevent bits to answer the question.

More Police constabulary's are opting for a more militaristic uniform change. Especially the Welsh police who have combat trousers and sports-tec tops. Do you think we should change from our shirt/tie combo?

Hello everyone, I am thinking if applying for the DDO role with Met police but I have a few questions... 1) Are DDO supported by a custody sgt? 2) What is the the assessment centre structure? 3) How much do DDO generally take home after tax? 4) How long does the recruitment process last? Finally 5) What training do DDO recieve? Thank you for your help in advance. Ps thank you to all that kept the street of LOndon safe during the riots!

I've heard on the grapevine that the new non-emergency number - 101 - is now live. The old 0300 number will remain active for a while but 101 is now the number that should be given out.

Hello, I have been scheduled for ELS tommorow at Victoria Station, but I haven't been given a time. I called 101 to get put through to Victoria, but no one answered the phone, I left a message but I'm not holding out much hope. One of my trainers told me to contact logistics to find out, but I have no number for them. Does anyone know how I could find out the time, or even better, is there anyone here on the ELS tommorow who knows the time? I haven't got a time table because it was rescheduled from my 5 week course... Thanks SuperSC

Dear all, CO15 (Traffic OCU) are recruiting officers across London. There are posts at four garages across the geographic areas (NW, SW, SE, NE). Applicants must be IPS when applying, which is via a bespoke application form followed by interview. Full details are available via MetHR, limited details including reference number are available via MSC Online. Application deadline 5th August. Officers need to demonstrate a high level of competence and commitment, but will be rewarded with an extensive training programme and excellent opportunities for development and varied duties. I'll do my best to answer any questions posted here. James

With the senseless looting and rioting across London ( and pockets around the UK) we should perhaps start a thread and post pics of numpties who have a blatant disregard for the Law and the Police and walk around looting without a care for anyone. if you have seen pics on Facebook (and other social Media) of people showing off with new items that werent purchased, then add the pics on this thread. Maybe we can be a source to assist in the eventual prosecution of these numpties! edited: spelling! oops! now fixed. thanks.

Hey guys, my attestation is this Saturday , who else is attesting this weekend then?

Did anyone else think yesterday was rather surreal? We were patrolling around on foot and absolutely everyone was saying hello, 'stay safe', 'thank you', or just smiling and nodding. We had one or two people who did vent at us a bit - understandably. At one point, while someone was 'venting' to us, a guy came over and said "you know what, I hate the police, but tonight they are doing a good job, leave them alone"(!). We had a few cars beep their horns... And, when we responded to a 'suspects on' that was just up the road from us, we were on foot and ran past some people who started to cheer us on...! The whole thing just felt really odd. I really wish community relat…

Hello everyone, Just a quick question. Do SC ever get riot training and would they ever be deployed in situations like we have seen recently? I will be working for Wandsworth and id just like to know if i would have this opportunity. Cheers, Nic Hawkins

There appears to be a great deal of information on these pages but I'm afraid I haven't enough time to read through them all.. I am therefore going to have to be lazy and create a new topic.. I'm after a bit of advice.. I've been a County Special for 14 years but am now looking to transfer into the MSC as I don't get to Special as much as I'd like due to the distance I have to travel and the time it takes. I also find my 'metisms' coming into my Specialling more and more and that I much prefer the met way to that of my County Force. I have therefore decided that I'd like to have a crack at street policing in the smoke. I've also decided that I should take advantage of t…

Hi I've been trying to get to grips with Twitter what with all the discussion in the news lately and found quite a lot of police officers who tweet, but couldn't seem to find any Met Specials who tweet. I'm assuming this is a rule from on high? Or am I wrong? Just interested to know, as figured that (obviously with limits) Twitter could be a force for good in neighbourhood policing. Thoughts welcome. Thanks. P.S. I searched the forum but didn't find anything / much else on this...

Hello Everyone, Got my dates for my training days. Very excited/nervous but will be great. Just wondering is anyone else on the Sunday courses?

I realise this is already running in GD, however, there may be numerous members who do not go to GD and read only the met forum. As a result, please do not delete/merge this! Guys and girls, Please take 30 seconds out of your time to sign this e-petition! We can have our voice heard! https://submissions.epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/3920
