Boris: I promise to keep police numbers high if I'm re-elected http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-mayor/article-23994334-boris-i-promise-to-keep-police-numbers-high-if-im-re-elected.do Boris Johnson today pledged not to decrease police numbers after the Olympics despite government cuts.In his speech to the Conservative Partyconference the Mayor said he has "a pretty good idea of what Londoners want" and promised that there will be no drop in officer numbers. He also fired a warning shot at the Treasury over the need to invest in the capital's transport network and hit back at Ken Livingstone's promise to cut fares if elected. I've just completed my little book in 2 months exactly, pleased to say the least! Now 2 questions - How did you feel about taking inexperienced officers out with you? What was your reward and recognition for completion? I asked my Skippers and they said there is no further development etc opportunities available. Cheers

My home nick is going to be a fair old hike from me, but I'm within walking distance of Kingston, and a stone's throw from a safer neighbourhood office. How easy (or hard!) is it to get access to stations other than the one you're attached to, in order to access aware/other admin stuff?

Passed ELS couple of weeks ago and was reminded about having our injections, rang doctors and receptionist told me they can do mine there and the cost would be £15.00 per injection. Went to the doctors on monday after work to be told by the nurse that the local GP's do not do these injections no more. She told me that they do not provide any occupational health services as part of their NHS responsibility nor can they provide this service to me even if it is funded by me. Under Health and Safety Regulations , your employer has a duty to provide a safe working enviroment and therefore, appropiate health advice for those at risk of infection with Hep B and other occupatio…

Hello, I passed my SC-PC Day 1 last week. Since the current PLC has started, I believe I will be on second PLC intake. I heard rumours of it being in Dec- January 2012... any info/confirmation on this? Plus, most of the Met Specials who passed Day1 are on current PLC.. then who else will be on the second PLC intake that is planned at the end of the year? (p.s.-the reason I'm not in the current intake is because I was unable to attend original Day1 that was offered to me).

Any ideas of when they are running these courses for PCSO's who have passed day 1? I've heard rumours of intakes in September/October... whether this is true or not, i don't know. Any ideas?

Hey guys, I've been seeing a Hampshire PSU Carrier quite a lot lately in Waltham Forest. They usually travel in convoy with a Met Carrier and a small Hampshire IRV. They wear the black national uniform, and one of em has a hi-vis stab vest so they're all sticking out like sore thumbs. Was wondering if anyone else had seen similar in other parts of London, and I'm guessing it's some kind of exchange program?

Hi All, Was wondering if anyone could help. What exactly do the Safer Transport Team do? I have an opportunity to join and so wanted to get an insight from someone who has had experience of working in STT to shed some light on typical duties and responsibilities. I did look at other threads but there wasn't really much out there. Any info would be great. Thanks!

The Commish wants the public to decide when the investigation finishes. The Home Office states that this is an operational matter for the Police. I thought crimes were mostly screened out to comply with Home Office rules.

I was at Hendon today, and on the parade square outside Simpson House I saw about 50 officers in parade formation. . They then turned right at the command of a man with a cane (most likely ex-military), and began marching. My question is, were they specials or regulars?
