Are Met police officers entitled to any sports supplements at a reduced price? I think it would be a fantastic idea if The Met worked in conjunction with a leading sports supplements company ie maxi muscle so that officers can stay in the best shape possible!

What is the legal basis for police cordons in a public order scenario? From training (and Notting Hill last week) I recall that we do not have a specific legal power to stop people breaching a cordon, but we can nick them for obstruction of justice if they breach a crime scene cordon. But how does that work in a public order situation when a cordon is put on? What is the legal basis for it?

MXL160 is very active on this forum, an experienced Met Special, and has gotten to know many members on here both on the forum and at the socials. I'm sure you will join me in congratulating him on his new status, and show him the same respect as you do for the other mods.

Well .... I was VERY happy to get an email asking me if I would like to re-open my DDO application, after passing my day 1 in 2009 and day 2 last year and even receiving a start date, only to be told it was to be terminated in January this year due to budget cuts! I am slightly worried to get excited though, as that got me no where before! I wont believe the jobs mine until I'm in custody dealing with my first detainee!! I had to re-take my Day 2 on 30-08-2011 ... which I am happy to say I passed! YAY! Now all the paperwork (AGAIN) vetting (AGAIN) & references (yes..AGAIN) I hope it doesnt take too long, and they dont start from day dot again, I really want to get…

I'm a BTP SC with IPS and one year's service (also hoping to get level 3 PO in the next month). I'm interested in transferring to the MET, preferably OSU, however am unsure if I am eligible due to the shift pattern. I've read the OSU prefer you to do a Friday night one week, Sat night the next etc but due to my shift pattern at work my hours would more likely be something like Fri night one week, Sun or Mon night the next, Thurs late turn the following week for example. Do you think this would be an issue with wanting to join the OSU given that I wouldn't be able to work the set core hours with one team? I'm averaging between 35 and 90 hours a month with BTP so can defi…

Hey everyone, Just realised that I had the chance to join the sydenham OSU unit. This was about 5 months back. I'm going to ring up on monday to see if I can still do it. However just wondering do you lot all think that the chance has passed? Really annoyed at myself as at the time I didn't know what OSU was untill a police mate told me. Feel gutted at the moment! Cheers, Nic

Slouching round Tesco in Covent Garden, hunting my lunch and clocked a bike officer doing the same (I assume he had a bike outside, otherwise the leathers might have been overkill!), but with added sidearm and the aforementioned shoulder number. Are these the diplomatic protection chaps?

I have heard that most officers in CO19 have travelled through TSG first. Does anybody know if this is pretty much a requirement? And secondly, does anyone know if CO19 have to be either level 2 or 1 Public Order??
