a S/Sgt friend of mine is looking for a transfer into the MET from a county force. Can anyone advise on the following He's looking at Uxbridge/Drayton... Would he retain rank on transfer. And how much Hendon work would he have to do before going onto Borough? All advice appreciated.

Good afternoon I started my course 3 weeks ago at Hendon. We now have a week off due to Notting Hill and have been told to work on the workbooks, Some of the class raised the point around revision, what do we revise as we were told to take sections from the workbooks we thorght maybe useful for the exam but if we have written the wrong answer this seems like a lost cause. One of my colleagues suggested we base our revision on the outcomes that are written in each section of the workbooks. Would this be a good idea?

I'm aware you are issued all the bits you need for your shoulder epaulettes etc, however is there any hard and fast rule about shelling out for your own embroidered epaulettes? I know they are issue to a lot of the CO units (CO11 etc), but can normal street duties specials private purchase such items or is it a case of use what you are issued? Reason I am asking is I am pretty sure when I was at Hendon yesterday I saw a PC walking around from Heathrow with embroidered epaulettes, dont think he was AFO etc as he was in normal working dress, I might be wrong. Personally I think they look alot smarter.

Right, Me and another forum member (i wont name names as if I do it will ruin his reputation as the man who knows everything) are at our wits end and we cannot find an answer to our question. The Question is: When conducting a search (Person) under Section 23 Of the Misuse Of Drugs Act, where (if proportionate, necessary and legal) does the power to use force come from? For example, use of hand cuffs pre-search, you believe cuffs are necessary to preserve evidence whilst you carry out the search. For the purpose of the question, imagine you have all the grounds you need, and all the grounds you need to use force - proportionate and all. Before people start shouting 1…

Dear all, I have been on this forum and noticed that some people were discussing the recent Buy a Bobby a Beer campaign... I was pleased to see that people had heard about it and just wanted to clarify some things... Some people had suggested it was a Marketing or PR stunt but it was nothing like that. Buy a Bobby a Beer was set up by myself and my colleagues after we felt that you guys all deserved a drink on us. (For the record we work in digital media - hence setting up a quick website and Facebook page). We wanted to see if we could get as many people as possible to buy you a beer. This was great as many people 'committed' to buy a bobby a beer. It was only aft…

Just like to get everyones view and see what you think will happen. do you think the met will keep this PLC after the olympics or will it go back to the old system?? also i heard there may be a ton of retirements happening after the olympics so is it possible they will do a big recruitment campaign similar to early 90s and just take on loads of officers?? only asking as i was one of the unfortunates that had passed day and 2 and vetting and was waiting a start date when they binned the apps last june, unfortunately i was an external applicant so have had to go through the…

Hi everyone, I'm currently filling out my Day 2 paperwork, "Business Interests and Secondary Employment" and there's nothing listed about being a student as well as serving as a regular police officer. I'm aware that the Met do often send officers to undertake degree courses whilst they are already appointed to further their careers or provide benefit to the service, but are there any regulations/SOP's for the other way round? ie: Anything that would preclude you from taking up appointment whilst being registered on a FT university course? Obviously there's things such as work-life balance to consider etc. but when I emailed recruitment they replied saying they weren…

Hi everybody! I am new to posting on this forum but have been an avid reader of these forums for quite some time. Posts are brilliant on this website and most have been exactly true to the recruitment process I have been through. I applied in March to become a MSC, passed my Day 1 assessment on 22nd June and passed the Day 2 assessment on July 13th. Im now the in the long wait to find out if I passed vetting and get offered training dates! Quick question regarding vetting, since I applied I have been worried that one of my relatives criminal record is going to stop me ever becoming a police offier. My father left home when I was very young and has been in prision s…
