So driving along the Chiswick part of the A4 yesterday, we had to pull over to let a 8 car blues on convoy pass. The convoy contained 3 marked BMWs, 3 red DPG BMWs, one vauxhall and a black truck which looked like a US swat truck. Anyone got a clue as to what the truck was?

Just thought some of you might be interested in the information I recieved back regarding Budgets and expense claims Q1) The amount of expenses claimed by Special Constables during 2010/11 The amount recorded for expenses claimed by the Metropolitan Special Constabulary in 2010/11 was £1.549m Q2) The percentage of the Met's annual budget that is used by the Special Constabulary(including recruitment, training, administration and leadership). The percentage of the MPS' annual net expenditure budget used on the Metropolitan Special Constabulary in 2010/11 was 0.08% I thought the percentage would have been higher. 4000 odd officers for just 0.08 percent of the budget…

Hi everyone, Well since my last visit I've sat down thought things through thoroughly got my self into a new job doing really well enjoying so much that i enjoy going to work. As a company they support CBCP (Croydon Business Crime Reduction Partnership Metropolitan Police), I'm also in the process of getting the company to adopt the Met Police ShopWatch program. So now it's 6 months later I've reapplied and been asked to book myself into the Welcome Interview to which I have already been on and participated in so i asked nicely to miss this and now it's a 4-6 week wait to see if i pass the initial paper shift but i have a couple questions. As I'm aware i might not pos…

Dear all I thought I would post this as it is an up to date version of the legal service we are entitled to as Special Constables (provided for by the NPIA.) I realise it is not the most exciting post however this kind of information is not widely published (in my opinion.) However in the event of such an incident this would be extremely important/valuable to you hopefully. We are not automatically entitled to Federation representation although sometimes this will be given. As Specials we are subject to exactly the same regulations and misconduct/performance proceedings as the regulars. We are entitled to legal services from Russell Jones & Walker (who the federa…

Hi. I am currently a quarter of the way through my sc training and all is going well. My question is to SCs who are now on borough. How long does it take before it all becomes second nature once you're out there? Or does it? Being out there doing the job for real and sitting in a classroom writing notes and doing roll plays is a different ball game!! Cheers Londonmsc

I'm due to start a new job next week, I' ve recently found out my new employer was one of the first to sign up to ESP. However the BOCU I am going to be posted to isnt the same as the one I will be working in, could this be grounds to refuse my application for time off under the ESP?

Had an e-mail this morning to tell me that my choices of boroughs were full - my first choice was Sutton (ease of access for me more than anything else). I did get offered an allocation to Lambeth or Soutwark, or to OSU at either Richmond or Eltham though. Decided to go for Richmond OSU after reading some of the threads here Cheers, Nick

I applied to join the specials in January and had my Day 1 in May which I passed. Had my Day 2 in June and thought i had passed until I received a letter saying id failed my vetting!!! I contested the failure and had a call today from Scotland yards vetting team who asked me a series of questions and they overturned the rejection!!! So I'm back on track to become a special constable I'm so happy !!! So it's always worth contesting the rejection!!!

So here's my story: I come from another country. The possibility of starting a new future pushed me to trust some people I barely met into coming to the UK to work as a driver, looking for scrap metal. As far as I was concerned, working for C. would not have been much of a problem, nor would it have put me in a situation with the law enforcement. Silly me. When I arrived, the perfectly legal business of collecting and recycling metal turned out to be petty theft. C. had a number of people stealing for him, and I was to drive his van full of stolen metal around. However, that did not happen for a long time, as he kept getting caught by the Met. Police on his tracks, he h…
