Hi Specials, I just applied to join the force and had a really interesting first meeting in the Great Simpson Hall. Can't believe how popular this volunteer force is, it's fascinating! Anyway, I will have to wait a couple of months before they can accept my application because I moved here from Denmark 2 1/2 years ago, so I was hoping to spend some time browsing through the white notes to get an impression of what I will need to learn. I have just been offered some training dates and they have said that there is an option to do training at Marlowe House in Sudcup. Has anyone else done training here and what is it like? Just want to see what its like compared to Hendon.

Given the black hole in the Met's budget for the next three years, it will be interesting to see if the Mayor stumps up more money in election year. The draft plan has just been published on the MPA website and it is a sizeable document. It seems to suggest that if the budget deficit is not plugged, it follows there will/could be a large decrease in officer numbers.

Hi, I've found that I'll be joining a safer transport team as a new PC at the end of this month, and I was just wondering if anyone here is on a team or has been on one recently? I just wanted to know a little bit more about them, like what sort of work is done other than the RPI jobs, the shift patterns, their flexibility (eg ticking bits off the soroc!). I've done a few of the RPI jobs as a special, and a couple of plain clothes ops, though I think those were part of the STC rather than borough STT. Cheers
