Hello Everyone, I'm looking to apply in May to the OSU at the Met and I have been in touch with them regarding the role. I have been also doing research with my local borough that I'm also interested in working at. I asked for contact details for the OSU from the Met - rather than just use the video footage on the Met website - to make sure I have realistic expectations before I apply. Same for my local borough as well. I was given the contact details but I was given this response as well: 'Specials on the OSU are specifically deployed on Friday and Saturday nights to deal with 'night time economy crime' - this means that you perform exactly the same duties as a speci…

Hi I have a couple of questions about the Selection Process Support Presentation that i am attending this Saturday. Firstly, i am travelling down from Suffolk and was wondering if there is a car park near by to the Empress State Building, or would the traffic be a nightmare on a Saturday so was thinking maybe a train might be the best option? Secondly, what would be exceptable to wear for the session? It says dress smart, but is that smart, ie plain jeans, jumper, trainers, or smart as in creased trousers, shirt, polished shoes? Any advice would be appreciated.

I have just learnt that Specials do not interview suspects that they have arrested. I therefore have a few questions which I hope someone can answer. Who then interviews them considering they don't know the full facts of the arrest, unless they were there. Do specials fill in all the case papers, MG11s etc or is this done by another party. I am waiting for my day 2 so I am curious, it seems they can't teach much in 23 days training so am I right in thinking most of it is done on borough Thanks everyone for a great site

Yep, another question from someone whose too worried about their application. How long after you sent your online application off, did you receive confirmation that you completed the paper sift? For me, it's 6 weeks and counting.

Am i rigbt in saying it is an fpn k 60 quid non endorsable for no seatbelt offences? Directed at traffic officers. A mate got shouted at by a supervisor for not giving a 30 quid non en, but i thought it changed years ago. If anyone could quote a home office or met police site would be ideal

As a special, what are the requirements to be able to drive? I'v yet to pass my Test, and in no real rush. But I'm just wondering what requirements you have to reach to be able to drive? IPS or a certain amount of service? I guess they can't let just anyone drive... If anyone knows the answer I would be very grateful, or if there's another thread with it on, hit me up with the link,

Apparantly I hear that the Met do "Financial Vetting" when you apply as an SC. Can I ask what exactly does this process entail? Is it just a mere check of your credit file and when they do run such searches on your credit file.........do they turn up like say if a lender does so? I also think its worth mentioning that when I was 16......I tried to open a bank account with Nationwide online but for some reason it came up as CIFAS (Fraud or something) ........however I got the account in the end. ......just that nowadays I cannot seem to open anymore bank accounts. :/ Will this interfere with my application and what do the met check out when they financially vet you?

Early in my application before I passed my Day 1, I was contacted and asked about changing my Primary borough choice from Havering to Waltham Forest. I accepted the change and the guy on the phone said that he was going to e mail the station and let them know I would be going there after my training and he said that I should e mail them and introduce myself, I thought that this was a bit premature as I hadn't done my Day 1. I have now passed Day 1 so I was wondering does anyone know when its the right time to start contacting them and introducing myself. Many Thanks Matt

I have had a look around with the search bar, but the westminster thread hasn't been used in a while so want to see what peoples current view on the 2 boroughs are, any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hi all, Had an email recently stating that the OSU are now full and are not accepting applications there anymore. If I pass my day 1 (awaiting results) ETC where seems to be a good place to start? Easy to get to (I live in Brighton) Thanks Milks

Excuse me for my ignorance but I cant find a thread that states what the application process is like for the Met police. I've done my day 1, awaiting my day 2. During my day 2 do I do the uniform fitting or is that separate? Thanks
