Hi guys, Just a quick question, as a student I'm looking to work for G4S this summer specifically at the Olympics. However, looking through this http://www.policespecials.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49847-restricted-occupations/ I may have to get permission from the MET, does anyone know the email to whom I may have to ask in regards to this, to be honest does anyone think its likely that'll accept it? Conflict of interest, considering I'll be working on an Olympic Borough? Thanks for your time :new_eyebrow:

Hello there. I was wondering if anyone could tell me exactly what you are issued with as a SC with the met? I see that in another force area they had a big list of everything you get issued with and thought it would be a good idea if there was one for the MET. Charlie.

I'm filling in the forms for my Day 2, and in the list of unsuitable business interests it lists "Any employment where there is a degree of confidentiality expected that may conflict with the interests of being a police officer, e.g. nursing, counselling, etc" Does this mean when that I become a doctor I will have to resign from the met?

Just finished MSC day 9 a couple of hours ago. speaking with the rest of my class mates, they have all had some sort of contact via email since starting the training now. I have had nout... I asked the trainer today and he wasn't to sure about who to contact as he said he normally does PC training. Just wondering if anyone has got an email address or something I could just send a message to. Only correspondence from the met I'v had since applying is a Day 1 letter, Day 2 letter and then training dates and references.. Or am I just worrying and is this normal?

Hello all, I was going to visit my Mum after a long and grueling fitness session I prepared for myself ahead of my Day 2 next Tuesday. However, A TSG van abruptly stopped and 4 officers jumped out and approached me. The eldest officer spoke to me and said he was going to search me...He then asked me what I do for a living, what I was doing in the area and for ID. The reason he gave for stopping me was because I had my hood up and I had my hands in my pocket which made me look suspicious. He took my name down and my D.O.B but nothing else so what does this mean? I've emailed the Specials HR team to let them know and will ring them in the morning. I'm a bit of a worrier!…

So I was chatting with a mate of mine and we were discussing the MSC, of IPS, regular recriuitment and the Olympics. There was some disagreement about what peoples primary motiviation, especially in how the changed nature of regular recruitment is affecting the demographic of the MSC. Previously we've been very good at representing the wider world which the Met polices but the question of, is there a larger chunk of people joining (who can afford to support themselves/change their circumstances) hoping to do the PLC and become regulars. So, as per the Poll (A Poll! A Poll! I hear you shout), why did you join? How long have you been in? and are you IPS? Oh and this is o…
