I was curious to know what the MPS (Regular Officer) wastage rate was (total number of leavers as a % of total force). After a bit of googling I found this document, which to say the least is pretty comprehensive. The document covers the year ending March 2011 http://www.homeoffic...311?view=Binary The wastage rate for the MPS was 4.2% which equated to a total of 1,352 officers. (Table 6, Page 29). The average wastage rate for England and Wales was 4.8% I would have expected, given the much more fluid nature of life in London, that the number of leavers would have been above the average rate of 4.8% for England and Wales, but as I have read on this forum Officers have …

This post is directed at OSU Specials Do serials from the OSU get deployed to Op Trafalgar? I would expect so, but I havent seen the OSU on the many times I have been there at weekends, surely this will be very good use of the MSC by keeping regulars on thier respective Boroughs and reducing the need to cancel rest days.

Ladies and Gents, Can anyone PM me the email for any of the MSC Managers at Greenwich? I finished my training last week and I have had no contact from anyone from Greenwich Borough yet. Many thanks.

I didn't think of this before ................I only thought of it as I am doing the day 1 paperwork for tomorrow. :new_doh2: but I use two different names in day to day life.... But usually my official documents have my official birth name but nevertheless I tend to use one more than the other. Let's say for example my surname is: Smith-Warner* but I usually use the surname: Warner (and drop Smith) What do I do? Do I really need to tell them any other names I use? and if so ....how , seeing as I didn't put it on my other form. And whilst we're on this..... (small and distant query I know) ...... what name is put on my warrant card etc....? Do I have a choice? Bef…

I have my Day 1 on Friday but because of exams I only managed to start preparing from last night! (Exams finished now) Do I honestly stand a chance of succeeding Day 1 interview on Friday or should I opt to postpone?

Ok so I've just had it confirmed that I've passed my Day one assessment Awaiting a Day 2 date now, Have been advised it may be after the Olympics etc. What I wanted to know was what did YOU do to prepare yourself for Day 2? I.e Download the bleep test and practice it religiously, or go for general jogs about.

Well it seems I had to cancel yet another Day 1 session!!! *grumble* *sigh* Because of some family issues and a problem with my ID......... My Day 1 was supposed to be tomorrow but I just sent an email to reschedule it..... Would it be likely that there will be another chance at Day 1 this summer? Ie: throughout July and August , despite the olympics. Its going to be a pain in the rear if I end up having to start training in January (or later!) Due to a postponed Day 1 and be in the middle of training during my A2 Exams next year in May/June! Studying for KEE's and A Levels at the time doesn't seem nice.

This was handed to us recently on an MPS leaflet. The idea is that you can see CCTV images of those sought and you can submit details. Personally I think it's a great idea because the public can get involved too. It is an iOS Apple, Android, Blackberry and Web App. Links here rather than having to copy and paste everything. http://facewatch.co.uk/cms/ http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/facewatch-id/id514357120?mt=8 ------------------------ <p> What is Facewatch? An online crime reporting system for businesses to report crime providing the full evidential package required by the police A way for businesses to deter crime by instantly sharing images of …

Now that my arrival has been announced, I thought I would seek all avenues to say hello to MSC Officers on Hillingdon Borough! I'm looking forward to working with everyone from the BSU\Core teams\SNTs and can see there is a lot of hard work being done. With the focus now on the Olympics the borough meeting on the 2nd July (now on MSC Online) is our last chance to talk before the excitement becomes reality. It would be great to meet of of you there and perhaps have an opportunity to discuss your questions\problems\queries. Please get your name down for the meeting and if you haven't yet, take the oppotunity to put your name on as many Olympic duties in the MSC Online Olym…

I think it's quite interesting that the TA, Army, Air Force etc. seem to be quite keen to allow their staff to use Twitter etc. in a personal capacity whereas the Met's policy is quite different. Any thoughts?

Hello everyone, You may have noticed me pointing out the newly supported ps.com Special constabulary Wiki, which we're trying to get off the ground to minimise the number of repetitive, very basic, Q+A threads. So, if you have a bit of spare time can one ask you to contribute? The more time we collectively put in, the less time we'll spend repeating ourselves and we can simply point new or curious would-be officers to the Wiki rather than giving inconsistent, non-comprehensive answers? Here it is: http://specialconstabulary.wikispot.org/Metropolitan_Special_Constabulary As they said in the 2004 Starsky and Hutch fllm: "do it", "do it", "doooo it".

Hi all, Just a quick question to guys that have recently passed vetting really, I did my day 2 on the 26th January (how far away that feels now!) and received the same email about training all booked to Sept etc. Then received the email regarding which training schedule I wanted come Sept but I've still not heard anything back from my vetting. It's coming up to the 5 month mark now which seems excessive, am I being stupid and I shouldn't have received a confirmation that I've passed and assume everything is fine ? I've never been in trouble with the police, perfect credit score, never left a job in a bad way, so in theory I can't see why it would take this long. Is ther…
