I was speaking to a mate at cadets on Thursday and heard that apparantly Specials can work with the DSU. Is this true? If this is the case..... What stuff will I be doing? Will I be an actual Dog Handler?

Hi All I understand the Met subsidises travel up to 70 miles out of London (for regular police officers with warrant card). If I wanted to get to Manchester which is 200 miles away, I presume I need to pay the difference from 70 miles onwards (from Coventry-ish) So if I turn up on the train at Euston carrying a ticket which is for Coventry to Manchester, is that the correct way to do it? Hi Guys Could anybody please tell me how many police officers do the met have currently?(think its around the 31,700 mark) How many more former specials/pcso's they have comming up to attest as a regular pc? how many officers have the met got retiring/leaving this year?(after the oylmpics and everything) and when after the oylmpics is the met recruiting for pc's from specials?(heard it may be september) Apologies for all of the questions guys but your answers will be appreciated Many Thanks Copper

Evening All i am an msc oficer at ZD Borough and have got ips Does anyone know about msc to pc recruitment after the oylimpics? i.e how many new pc they are taking on and when ? also anyone have any idea about how many 30years + officers that wil be retiring after the oylimpcs? ( head it is 2000-3000 officers) and also when you apply to your line managers for the pc role do they take things into account (i .e hours being a supervisor) etr Many Thanks Once a Copper

I watched the BBC newsnight program last night and was immensely proud to see a MSC officer giving his first hand account of what he was faced with. The debate inevitably turned to police numbers, but what I was interested in was why not train all police officers in the MET in level 2 PO? I discussed it in the canteen and some said that its a bit above and beyond the standard 'day job' if you like, and you should have a choice whether to perform such tasks. I see the point if we were talking firearms training for example, but dealing with public order is pretty much bread and butter policing. Good Morning. Does anyone know if there are any MSC football teams,matches between different boroughs. I know there are games between different boroughs for regs but unsure if this is open to Specials. I saw an post on msconline for netball,where management where paying for costs etc. Anyone interested in starting something up? Training,kickabout whatever. I havent played for a while and think im getting withdrawl symptons. Ive posted this on the Met section as im on CW. Apologies if this should be on clubs/groups. Im finding my way on this forum slowly!

Attending Maybe Unable

Hello, I am in week 18 of my 23 week SC course and we still haven't received our uniform. I have been trying for days to get hold of someone who deals with Uniform. Mainly because i am doing my Level 3 Public Order Training Course next weekend and currently have NO uniform to wear!!! I was given the number of someone, based in Mandela Way, apparently but the number doesn't connect (i.e. i presume it's incorrect) Can anyone help me!!! I just need to get through to someone who deals with / handles uniform or someone who can at least give me my full list of measurements that were taken on my Day 2, so i can borrow uniform from my soon to be borough. HELP! MS_CD

Anyone heard much about this new model, or work in one of the "trial" boroughs..... I'm keep hearing rumours on Team (as a reg) but still nothing official. Just wondered if anyone knows how these teams will work etc

I wonder if anyone can advise, is it possible to get more than the 28p per mile? My car 100% costs more than that to run, in fact my current day job which is also local government pays 40p per mile. today i drove from my house to uniform services and back, i left on red light put in £30.04 when i got home it was red light again a 69 mile round trip. working that out I'm well short :-( Thanks in advance.

Hi guys! Just thought I'd tell everyone I am attesting this Saturday..so excited :D ! I did the 23 day intensive course at Victoria CLTC and I am already missing it! Considering we are attesting in business wear (incomplete uniform which is disappointing!) I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas as to what to expect? I was told either a Sergeant or Inspector from my borough (Westminster) would be there too, anyone know anything about it? Thanks!! x

People, I'm being told on the MET Website; "Pay-All Metropolitan Police Officers currently receive London weighting and allowances amounting to £6,219 on top of national police pay scales.If you are new to the role, this means: £27,402 on commencing service £29,847 on completion of initial 31 weeks’ training £31,206 after two years' probationer training". I was talking to a PC the other day and they said that the website is wrong.! NEW PC's do not get as much as it states???! Can any of you lot confirm this? Does anyone actually know the correct rates of pay??? Ta v.much
