Metropolitan Police (London)

Hi guys, Does anyone know if it is realistic to work for the MET if you live outside London? One day I hope to join but could never afford to live in London. I don't really fancy a houseshare either so I would be looking at living somewhere cheaper where I could rent a flat. Any advice is much appreciated.

My Sgt has emailed me a list of Ncalts to be done before my indunction, spent all of the day getting throught them, to not be able to find one... On her word doc its called '* Information and intelligence - Improving police information (IPI) record, search and share' if anyone knows which one it is, and could PM me the link for it, or the course number, I would be very grateful.

.........and good riddance. Lets hope McPherson goes along with his response shift patterns

The Met used to be the goto Force for sorting out trouble. We are now so woolly and liberal that we are looking at other forces to see how it should be done. All this rubbish about the Met being the best force in the world,it is not even the best force in this country. I imagine that officers who retired 10 or more years ago cannot believe that this is the force(service) they left. It is easy to say it wouldnt have happened in their day, but it wouldnt. Those of us with a bit of service remember when incidents such as this were just sorted. Robust policing didnt need to be discussed, it was always robust. We are now shackled by liberal attitudes which actually prevent pol…

Hi All, Just out of curiousity, who would join DPS if they had a chance? Why would you join DPS? Would you ever snitch to the DPS if you witnessed corruption or misconduct? DPS secretly headhunt officers to work covertly for them, would you do the job if asked? Have you all watched the TV programme Line Of Duty? I personally could never do that kind of work, you would have no friends from work. And be hated by thousands of officers. But on the other hand you get to deal with bent coppers which could be very interesting for some people.

What is the gen with OST now?! I fell out of Hendon in November last year, I've just looked at MSC online and it's telling me it's expired already? I'm annoyed as if it has there arent any that I know of going between now and the sports day in July. I think I recall being told if you did the intensive course it was valid for a year as you did phase 1and 2 OST in a short space of time?

Is any one else Attesting this Saturday? this is the last one before the Olympics

Good Morning. I'm interested to find out people's experiences of Policing the Notting Hill Carnival. I used to go years ago as young kid,my Dad would force me and brother to go on the " kids day". Always seemed to rain as well, but the curried goat made it worth it! As a teenager i saw a totally different side to the Carnival, fights, gangs robbing people at knife point, women getting sexually assaulted, open drug use/sale of drugs and an air of chaos with large gangs running amok.To the untrained eye you probably couldn't even notice any offences being committed. Amongst all this people are raving, dancing having a good time, remember the copper who was skanking last year? …
