Hi Folks, We're quite lucky that we've got a reasonably lively social scene here in London, are dear leader (currently absent) Cockney kicked off the London Police Drinking Club in Late 2007 and it's been going strong ever since. As more and more events seem to be forming and more and more people are coming to them a few common themes seem to be turning up in the threads so I thought an FAQ would be helpful. Q. It's called the London Police Drinking Club, but what if I don't drink alcohol? A. Not a problem, only be aware that we tend to meet in a pub so be aware if that's not your scene. Many people who come along don't drink booze. Q. Do I need to be in the police t…

Hello, I had my day one at the end of June, 11 weeks later and I am still waiting. I called recruitment about a month ago and was told I had passed day one and they would be dealing with day twos in mid august. I called today and was told they would try and give me a date soon and somebody will email me soon. Therefore, could I ask how long all of you had to wait for a day two? Also, is it normally two weeks in advance? I have to go abroad for the final week of Sep so I am worried it will fall in that week if they do reply asap. Cheers.

Maybe I am the only person who finds this continually, and incredibly, irritating, but... "MSC" is an acronym of "Metropolitan Special Constabulary". Just as "MPS" stands for "Metropolitan Police Service". You can't say "I am an MSC". Or "MSC Jones arrested someone", or "how many MSCs are working today?". Anyone have any idea why anyone says this, or how it has caught on? It clearly makes no sense! I have even seen the Met using it in press releases! You can be a Special Constable (SC) or a Constable in the MSC. On our name badges, and warrant cards, it says "Sergeant MSC" etc to differentiate, although I think it would make a lot more sense the other way round. We don…

Hey all, Firstly my apologies if this is in the wrong section, couldn't find "kit corner". I have had my training info letter sent out and it asks that I bring a t-shirt with my surname down the left hand side in block capitals. Now the letter isn't specific as to if it has to be pen etc. I purchased some iron on transfers of the letters I need for my surname. Just checking that this is okay? what do most people do? Thanks in Advance!

The title says it all - will anybody else from here be attending? Also has anybody received their letters yet?

Does anyone know if there is parking during weekdays at Hendon? On my joining instructions it said there was but from pervious experience with the Met they've said one thing as turns out to be tr complete opposite.

Just wondering if there are any traffic bods around that might be able to point me in the right direction for the current SOP regarding reporting vehicle defects. I was told that we apparently no longer issue VDRS because they weren't being followed up properly. What's the procedure now a days? Words of advice or straight to a NE-FPN? And is there anyway to ensure the fault has actually been fixed after the FPN? The numerous broken headlights, rear lights, break lights out are starting to annoy me

Do they still use them? I've had a recent run of watching various detective shows set in the 60's/70's and 80's and they keep mentioning diaries. It seems something akin to entries in a pocket book. Is this something from a bygone era or what? Was it just detectives or just anyone (it seems) of Inspector rank and above?

For people that went through the PLC last time 1 - what were the options for attending the course (ie evenings 1 day a week for 3 full weeks?) 2 - if you couldn't attend a particular lesson what were your options to catch up(ie if it's a rigid as MSC foundation training you need to catch up with another class or get recoursed) 3 - how soon after plc did you get offered a place on the CTC.

Any work on Specialist units recruiting SCs? At a meeting I went to a few months back they said they might start after the Olympics.
