Metropolitan Police (London)

Evening all, I'm new here and I guess my reason for being here is the same as lots of others, peace of mind, sound advice and information. I completed my online application for MSC on Friday 9th November. I realise that the initial paper sift can take a while but I keep hearing different things. I've heard one person, who is a serving Special in Camden, say that it took 1-2 weeks for her, while I've heard 6-8 weeks from others. It could be that mine may be taking a while because I e-mailed all seven of my tattoos (none on face, hands or neck!) and maybe they're being scrutinised closely, I don't know. These two weeks have felt like the longest of my life. If there is a…

Check your aware email... The current recruit campaign is no longer 200 vacancies its now 500.... Wahoooooo

Constantly trying to ring the direct recruitment number 02083580344 but it just rings and rings no answer?

I travel to Spain often and usually fly to Gibraltar and have often wondered if we as met officers have any power of arrest over there as it is British overseas territory. Anyone got any knowledge on this? Cheers

All - please when we start topics in here (and this does appear to be a Met area problem more than others) please lets stay on topic! We all know that conversations get a little heated and sometimes we stray but the various threads about recruitment have got so silly I have had no choice but to close a couple over the last few days. Thanks all SBG

Does anyone have anymore info on the police knowledge certificate? Do SCs have to pay for it or not? Do you take it thru the met or off your own back? Etc etc I'd like to know as much info as possible on this as it just seems like yet another hoop you've got to jump thru to become a PC! Cheers londonmsc

When you stop vehicles under s.163 RTA as a routine traffic stop, what paperwork do you complete? I came across someone recently who had been instructed to complete a 5090 slip, recording it as a 'stop and account' for every vehicle they stopped. All have been recorded on the Stops Database now. I've never seen that done before, does anyone else do this? Thoughts?...

Hi all I wonder if you can give me a hand. can you let me know the exact (correct) way to do a pnc check? wording etc? I'm very nervous about doing them over the radio and my mind goes blank so I am going to write it down. thanks

I'm slightly confused... I applied a few weeks ago, using the online application form but it contained NO competency related questions. A few days ago I received an E-mail from recruitment with a link that took me to 'My Application'. On this website it stated that 'If I can see this, the next stage is 'Day 1'. Can someone confirm that there are NO competency related questions on the initial application form and the next stage is Day 1? Thanks.... Sorry if this is a bit confusing.

I have my MSC Day 1 next week and was just wondering for some advice please guys. I'm pretty confident on the competency examples as I was a Northumbria Special and currently a Met DDO, but I'm a bit unsure on what preparation that I can do for the written test? I know that we have to read some documents on the day with a 30 minute time limit and then have to write a report. Any advice from people who have done it recently? Thanks

I got my Day 2 date for 13th December yesterday. That leaves exactly 3 weeks and a day until the big day. Can anyone tell me what happens on day 2? I'm hearing stories that they have changed the fitness test now but I don't know what's going on. Nothing is being said by HR in the material sent by email. Do we sort out boroughs here on the day and how is the substance misuse test carried out? Is it blood , hair , urine? etc... So far I've not prepared for day 2 yet. Do they still do the whole "you have 3 chances" thing?

Hi guys has anyone been through this recruitment process with the met? I would like some details

Hi All I recently received confirmation of my training date for the specials with the Met police. I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone on the forum. I have not had a lot of support from friends or family for the specials but the forum provided me with advice and information that helped me a lot through my day 1 and 2 etc. My training starts in December, I am extremely nervous but I am sure it is worth it. Thank you :new_yummy:

I wonder if they where local officers or specialist search?

Hello, I wonder if anyone could help, Just wanted to know the the shift patterns are like for the OCUs across the following boroughs: West Drayton/Uxbridge Feltham/Hounslow Twickenham/Richmond Kingston upon Thames Also are there response shifts based at all stations and what sort of things are dealt with by response, how far do they deal with investigations and how many people are on the shifts? Many thanks
