Hi all, Utility belt, i've seen many officers wear the belt under their police coats, and many above. Same for Hi-vis. I personally prefer to wear it on the outside as I have better access. Is there any huge rules about this? or a personal choice?

Hi guys, Hoping someone can answer this fairly quickly... IS there parking at the Heathrow Gym where OST takes place? If so, do you know where? Thanks in advance

So I have thought about changing my name for quite sometime now. Just a tweak to my surname but nevertheless a change and a change that I wish to make. Now I am applying to the MET as a Special but I am not sure when I should do this name change. My application is currently in the post-assesment sift. Should I change it now and let them know or just change it when I pass vetting and get a day 2? Would a simple name change now affect vetting?

Hi all. I've got my ELS and OST refresher at Hendon tomorrow but haven't had an email confirming what to bring, what to wear, what comes first etc. I've had an email confirming PO3 on tuesday, hence the confusion. Could anyone shed some lightt on this for me please?

This is a thread where you can discuss in a general sense ongoing MSC developments without a Mod accusing you of going off-topic or cluttering up the forum with relevant discussion. Please do not discuss individual officers or mention specific OCUs/units. General themes only, but anecdotes and "I heard that..." are perfectly acceptable. Please do not "moan", constructive thoughts only please. Please keep it civilised and professional, otherwise it will just get shut down! When posting, be prepared to be shot down if someone else knows better.

Hi All, The borough I have chosen has informed me that we are expected to do at least 8 core shifts throughout the year. A core shift being 8pm untill 4am on a friday and saturday night to deal with kicking out time etc. Now I would have no problem in doing these shifts as I know it's an important part of policing, however I am due to start working at weekends (giving the MSC monday to friday of my life). My main question is, are there any London boroughs that you know of or work for that would allow specials to work just weekdays? I did bring this up in induction day to which I was told "Maybe (Said London Borough) isn't for you then". I am slightly confused as I thoug…

Attached are four wonderful ladies that have served the MSC faithfully for a great many more years than most. This was taken after their last duty on Sunday 11th November 2012 in Horse Guards.

When applying yesterday, online, is it normal not to have any questions and competencies on the initial application?

Can anyone give any guidance on the following :- I will be starting training on the November intensive and have to travel from just outside London. I will primarily train at Richmond although my first day will be at Hendon, with some other days also allocated at this site. I am trying to establish the best (and cheapest) method of buying my rail tickets. The most expensive and inefficient method is buying a ticket for each day. The simplest and cheapest will be buying a 7 day season ticket that includes travel in zones 1-6. But of course on the Richmond training days I don't need the zone 1-6 travel entitlement. Even though my expense claim will be the cheapest option,…

I wonder what contributors think of this footage. .Is this the conduct you swore to uphold? What about this incident on ?I've been subject to exactly the same treatment numerous times. Thousands of us have. The plain clothed officers in the clip are representative of that attitude. My main question is about the fear filled actions, highly exaggerated view of their powers and their polarized, over-simplified attitude towards pol;icing displayed in these clips. (and hundreds of similar clips.) Is this an abhorration of behaviour or is this "part of the job? Is it in your opinion due to ignorance among new recruits about the rights we have in law, or are such atti…

I applied quite some time ago.... Feburary. I recently found out that I passed my Day 1 (no official confirmation. Just rang them up and asked) So what happens next? After the post assesment sift? When do we hear from our borough choices and get things going? Also: Can I change my borough choices and how do I do this?

I've been told previously and confirmed over the telephone that I passed my day 1 assesment however I am still in the Post day 1 assesment stage. Can somebody tell me how long vetting/the post day 1 assesment sift will take? I had my day 1 around the 10th October so it has basically been a month. Any ideas when I can roughly expect a day 2 assesment. I am hoping to get into my day 2 quickly so I can hopefully get some sort ot update on training by the new year or christmas. Cheers Jon

Guys just a quick one, Have people seen the recent duties on MSC online in regards to COs "working group", "cenotaph parade", meetings? This may be just me but i thought we were a unique unit and therefore this would give the CO an opportunity to have a unique way of sculpting the up and coming unit??? I believe that it may be turning in to a top boys club? Why is there not an open forum like Bernie gets? Let us tell you what is actually going on day to day from - Non ips, ips, special seargents! Not people that have been in for years and have built a little covern. Also noticed that a lot of the invited officers are north of the river!!! No RG,RY,PY,PL ???? Also …
