Already a thread running In BTP but all seeking employment in the police should know they are currently running a new force wide pcso campaign.

The Police Arbitration Tribunal has agreed today that new recruits joining the police should have their pay reduced to £19000 for those who have no police experiance or police qualification or £22000 for those who have police experiance or a police qualification. This means in London an officer will earn £19,000 (£2200 with police experiance) plus £6500 (London Weighting and London Allowence) + £1200 (unsociable hours pay) = £26,700 (£29,700 for those with police experiance starting full time as a constable) Outside London the pay is alot less. Simple question, anyone looking to choose this as their option?

I'm trying to find a video I think was posted either on here or on ukpoliceonline a long while back but to no avail. I believe it was featuring CCTV from Hackney borough, and the only clip I remember is a carrier going to stop a vehicle who's occupants make off with one of the serial falling flat on his face tryin to run after them. Ring any bells anyone?

Does having a degree help you with promotion in the met?

Hi All, Some good news if you plan to be a police officer in the Met in the coming 3 years. In 2013, 2014 and 2015 the Met will recruit 2000 new PCs. To accomplish this task they will reduce promotions of officers to Sergeants and above and cut civillian jobs. Hi all. Just wondering if anyone can give me a rundown on how met sc expenses work. Can you only claim if you spend money on a shift? snacks, lunch etc.. ive heard that specials get an expense payment regardless of what they spend depending on hours. I dont know wether i believe this or not though, surely you cant claim expenses if being an SC costs nothing? It would be great if somone could let me know. Every little helps, i love saving lol.

Hi guys, it would be very interesting to know how many hours you give per week/month, working as a Met Special Constable. Also it would be good to know how many hours you work per week/month in your occupation/ profession. Current borough? Hours your aim to volunteer? Hours you work in occupation/ profession? It will be great to hear from you all! :new_yes:

Haven't started a new topic in ages and quite interested in your responses for this one. Do any of you SC's or regulars out there, wear those earpieces or 'hangers' with your radio? If so which ones?

Morning All Maybe a silly query but am hoping someone can help. I start my SC training for the Metropolitan on the 10 December but wondered if anyone has any advice/knowledge they can give that will help prepare me. I have all the course material downloaded onto my I pad, i.e. ‘student notes’ of what we need to learn, and I read through them continuously. Does anyone know what ‘student notes’ will be covered first during a first week of training. I am just trying to pace myself and be clued up on the right ‘student notes’ for the right week. I guess I am just really stressed and wondered if anyone has any advice on what to expect? Thanks Steph

Hello all, I was told the other day that the MET's DDO training is in 'Harrogate', but i'm pretty sure that's in Yorkshire, I thought it'd be somewhere in London, but I can't seem to find out where it is. Has any current or previous DDO's trained in a place called 'Harrogate' and if so, where is it, and do you stay at the training centre for the 6 weeks, or go home each night? Thanks
