Metropolitan Police (London)

Morning all, I'm aware that the likelihood is that they are all off until the new year, but does anyone have the number for the uniform stores at Hendon (if such a thing exists)? I've got my fitting there in the new year. Thanks. Guy

Just wondering, what kind of activities do the met get involved in? Do they have a football team? If so how does it work, do you get time off to go and play? Do you play other boroughs? Whats the standard like? What other sports do they participate in? Does anyone participate in any of the sports on offer?

A place to put your results of day1 - pass or fail !!!

As a newly appointed special sergeant, what advice would you give on being the most supportive and effective special sergeant, also, does any other special sergeant know if I get access to other application on the system? Cheers,

I use social media networks such as Twiter , Facebook and Instagram often. Particularily Twitter and Instagram. For those of you who do not know... Instagram is a website and an app that allows you to share and like other people's photos etc.... Some time ago I took a photograph.... It's job related (ish) , which can be seen here: <snipped> I have a few other similar images , if you take a look and see. The point of this is to ask ..... Is there anything wrong with these images? Do DPS frown upon the use of social media. As I thought these were relativly harmless images however the gist of one of the posts by another user "Wow... You have just lost your chance …

In light of the "PLEBGATE" saga and really just realising that no one has actually voiced their opinions on the commisioner i wanted to set up a topic on your opinion of him. My opinion is that i do not believe he is working for his rank/file police officers and is more interested in looking after the political side of the job. I really wish he would come out and publicly stand up for officers and let the public know that we are doing endless (ridiculous) operations, long hours, no family life.

Check your aware systems.

Hi guys, What are the typical shift patterns for DDO's (including how many days and hours)? I understand it may vary for each borough, but a general outline would be good. Thanks!

If we pass our day 2 from sc to pc does any one know how our training will go?

All, received the email today another recruitment round is due in may 2013 but must have PKC to be eligible. It's also official on aware.

I have just had a telephone call from a very upset friend who is a MVP volunteer. He has been working on the front desk of a police station as a volunteer for the past 18 months. He has just received a letter from the MPS to say because he received a caution a few years back his security clearance has failed. On further investigation it transpires that all MVP volunteers, PCSOs and MSC are currently being re-vetted and anybody with a caution or conviction will have there security clearance withdrawn. This is even if the individual declared it on there application when joining which most would have done anyway. Has anybody else heard about this?

When did the slogan " Working together for a safer London " start to disappear? It's even gone from the header of the Met website

Right so ive just been told im being posted to Lewisham as a Reg just wondering if anyone is from the borough as a PC/SC and what its like what nicked Team are based out of and so on. Any info much appreciated thanks Owen

I'm suddenly feeling rather excited about the fact that Christmas is less that two weeks away so thinking we should organise some kind of party, even if it's of the virtual variety... So, as a start, I'll rearrange the furniture in the writing room so there's room for all the newbies and bring in some home made mince pies... Oh and before anyone gets carried away, the photocopier stopped working years ago!

Has anyone completed this ridiculous NCALT for the review of PACE code G. What a ridiculous review! http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/police/powers/pace-codes/
