Ive heard unconfirmed rumours that the met may be changing specials assesments and introducing roleplays and full Pirt into the day one assesment. Ive heard this from a reliable source although it is just a rumour and I dont think anything is confirmed. I am just asking if anyone has heard similar? I have friends who have just applied. It would also be interesting to hear your thoughts on toughening up specials recruitment. I reckon it would make an interesting discussion. Any replies and opinions completely wellcome!

Does anyone have a rough idea when the met will be recruiting special constables again? Cheers

Attending WAID Not Attending Maybe

Hi, I have my day 2 on November 19th at 8am. It says it will take 5 hours which will mean a finish time of 1pm. However, is this time realistic? If possible, I would like to book off only half a day from work, which would mean I would need to be back at Bank by 1pm. Is it normally the case that people are finished by 12? Thanks.

Hi, I had my day one assessment on the 25th of May and still haven't heard back yet. I tried emailing and calling hr.special but they haven't replied. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem as I know the Olympics and Paralympics caused a delay Thanks, Ollie

Its started and it did not even make national headlines, effectively the MSC is being dismantled as with the rest of the MET, the MSC no longer has a central support, which effectively means no more support for training or development. As a free service it seems we are now consider an acceptable resource to cut. Its a disgrace, for the all the thousands of volunteers to be effectively sidelined in the coming months as part of the new policing model, we were needed to be used and abused now we appear to be useless. I was just wondering what are the pros or cons of being the communications officer. I'm tied in between in taking the job if i get it or rejecting it. I also want to know can comms officer apply internally to become PC's? Cheers.

hello everyone im loving the forum at the moment It helped me alot (as a guest) and Im about to start training to be a Special. Ive chosen Harringey because I believe that the diversity (both socially, and economically) will make it an interesting borough to work in and its not too close or too far. I had a look on the boroughs thread but would love to hear real first hand experiences of what its like to be a special on the Borough. Mainly the support new specials might recieve to get comfortable if you like and the boroughs policy on coach patrols. Also the attitude towards LGBT officers on the borough any replies welcome.

Hi all, Has anyone the telephone number for the lady who deals with all Met Specials? I had her direct dial number but have lost it. I am in the process of transferring abd the general number is not helping me? I'm sure her name began with J..... Any help would be great. Thanks

I'm based at Brent, now my issue is that since we changed our pattern about I havent been able to complete a shift, because with my full time job I work a 1 in 3 callout rota. And now we can only go out with our aligned teams, where as before there would always be a shift every Friday and Saturday night that anyone could apply for. So it's either I leave the met, or transfer to a borough that allows me to come in when I want, like it was when I joined up. I hope someone can help, as I'm so stressed with all this. Hi I am hearing rumours that MPS are only going to take Specials into the regular force as of April if they have completed the new Knowledge certificate in Policing. Does anyone know if thats a fact?

Hi Can anyone tell me the mets policy on specials being filmed (as a civilian) for promotional media. Basically my university wants to film me for their advert and I don't know if this broke any policies or if it's a bad idea for my own safety incase i'm recognised etc.

This may seem like a strange question but I have a day 1 at the empress state building and wanted to know what level they take you up to? I'm not the most comfortable with heights and worried its going to affect my concentration. This may sound silly but looking out of a window on the 30th floor would make my legs turn to jelly...everyone has there weakness' and unfortunately heights is mine. thanks kate
