Hello everyone, My OCU is pleased to announce that we're finally recruiting for MSC Constables and Sergeants again. Presently we are looking for expressions of interest from officers who have specific, commercially useable skills that would be applicable for any of the teams within the command. A complete list of the disciplines can be found on the MPS web site here: http://www.met.polic...alist_crime.htm In addition to your credible industry experience, you must be either IPS or very close to being IPS. We cannot accept officers into the Command who are not confident enough to be able to arrest / process prisoners both independently and professionally. Please see M…

Has everyone else received an email from there MSC skipper with an application to join so1,6,14 20 vacancies, must be IPS with 200 hours. Perhaps it's not all that bleak the future?

The Met have relaunched the “Your Application” system so some MSC applicants can check how their application is going online, without having to email or call Recruitment. It’s available to people who: applied for the MSC using the online form since 15 September 2012 are not applying under ESP, Police Staff Specials, or paper-based applications If the application was made before 15 September and/or was on paper, you still need to email or call. There is a five working-day maximum response time on emails and calls at the moment, so if you can use the online system, use it :new_yummy: How to get there: The web address is https://secure.met.police.uk/ccspec/log…

As some of you may or may not remember... I've had a bad habit of rescheduling my day 1's mainly out of not being prepared and with this one I was prepared to withdraw all together as for a forth time , HR were NOT going to reschedule me again. Today started off pretty rubbish.... college stuff. But sat in the library and seeing something about the Police... I thought I would give HR a call and find out. I did and it seems that according to the guy on the phone , My status said something has been rescheduled. My heart stopped but after a short while on hold he says its because they are scheduling me up a Day 2 Assesment. As you can imagine my heart stopped a thousand ti…

Quick question please to those in the know. Can prison officers become specials or is it one of the excluded occupations? Many thanks.

Hello Metfolk Rumour is we're looking to move to the sort of shirts you wear, however rumours being rumours have all manner of weird and wonderful things on the go. Our CC apparently doesn't like black and wants us in white (again). I've heard you lot have some weird hybrid shirt which - if I'm being honest - sounds horrendous. A wicking-style body but with proper shirt-sleeves?! And some weird collar? Potentially a sewn-in collar and tie?! Can anyone tell me exactly what this new shirt of yours is? If anyone is willing to share a photo of it that'd be grand. We've gone from shirt and tie to a wicking shirt, to a new style of wicking shirt, and now potentially to yours…

I am not sure if that has come up before, but what is the policy on specials conducting interviews with authority of duty CID officer?

Hello all, Not sure where best to start. I am currently a Special in Northumbria and enjoy my time on duties. I am however very keen to progress my police career as soon as possible and have not ruled out a move to the Met. I know I am unable to put in a transfer request, but does anyone know of schemes that could be available, or would it be best to keep an eye out for recruitment in the met to reopen for PC's and start an application from scratch? Thanks

Right before I start I know that this will probably be moved to kit corner, but since I specifically need fellow Londoners help on this one, I've decided to whack it in the MET section...... Mods, feel free to move it. I have been trying to find a store somewhere in London that sells decent gloves that I can wear whilst on duty (the ones the MET supplied me with were too big and really uncomfortable). When I say gloves..... I mean something along the lines of what you can get on patrol store, rather than what you can buy from a camping shop like blacks. Ah so many of you would wonder why I dont just buy a pair online? Well I have this problem of having really annoyingly…

Well it was good while it lasted (If you were even aware of it) Apparently, the free travel on the Emirates Cable Car and Thames Clippers Riverboat Service was only for the duration of the Olympic Games and was revoked on 9th September. PeoplePages on the Metropolitan Police Intranet have been amended to reflect this. The concession was never properly announced when it was granted and now it hasn't been properly announced that we don't get it anymore.

Just wondering if Police Staff have a door into becoming a PC? I know some other forces are doing this from internal staff? Thanks

I have my interview coming up for the role of DDO, can anybody advise me what to expect on the day, I heard it's an interview with 4 competency questions then a video where you have to mark down what goes on in the video. Is this still the assessment process for the MET ? Thank you

Just received my posting here as a reg starting end of June, was wondering if anyone could give me any info particularly from a regular point of view, I see they have 4 stations, are response team based out of all of these? What is the borough like for calls, how things are run etc? Tried the link from the borough choices thread but does not seem to be working. Happy to talk over PM if preferred. Cheers

Just found out I've passed my day 2, awaiting confirmation that my substance misuse comes back negative. I spoke to the docs officer and she said that I've already passed my vetting! So now onto stage 3. In everyone's experience how long do you reckon I'd have to wait before I start training? Also anyone else do their day 2 yesterday?
