Hi, I'm new to the forum and have been asked to attend an assessment centre day mid January for the specials in Lancashire. I've been working through some practice verbal reasoning questions and reading through threads on here And speaking to current officers I know. Is there anything else I can do to help me prepare thoroughly. Finally, on the day am I expected to dress in a certain way, clean shaven etc? Might sound petty but just want to make sure I give it my best shot. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hey All, I haven't posted in a while, I've mostly just been browsing the forum. However, I do have a question regarding the "core competencies" for Special Constables. My inital question was 'What are said competencies?'. However, that could be solved by a simple Google search. The problem I have now is that I have multiple different answers. Hence, I'd just like to clarify which of these, if any, are correct. Examples have been; Openness to change. Service Delivery. Professionalism. Decision making. Working with others. Whearas, another source states; Team working Community & customer focus Respect for race and diversity Personal responsibility. Resilience. An…

Anyone who had to fill in the online vetting form questionnaire on FCO webste for Police constable application (CTC vetting), how long did it take for your vetting to come back from them? It states on their website around 30 days, however anyone had to wait any longer? On average, how long would you say it would take?

Hi all, had my official offer through and will start Mod 1 on 25th September (intake A), will anybody else be on my intake? I have been told I am allocated to South (they at first allocated me to East but I asked to change as it's quite a distance from me in Manchester), not sure which station I will be at yet though. Excited, eek :-)

Hi all, starting MOD1 this weekend and have a bit of a random question. What is the catering like, I.e. Is there any healthy options or is it all chips and fried food? Also, is there a fridge in the accommodation blocks so I could store my own food? I am dieting and don't want it all to go to pot if I can help it!

Hi guys. Recently attended Module 1 at Hutton and it was great!! The training team are really easy to get along with and did a great job. Now onto DT1. Anyone know what we can expect from this weekend?

Another option to keep intouch throughout training for those of us not on facebook :-)

Hey Guys, I'll be attending my first training weekend, Module 1, in the next few weeks & I was wondering if there is anyone, who has recently completed it, who can give a quick overview of what it's like, what material is covered (I assume it's the stuff we have been asked to Pre-Read) etc. Also, what's the accommodation like, meals, start time, you get the picture. I so excited to get started, but I don't want my imagination to run wild & then when I get there it's nothing like what I imagined, so I want to go in with an education assumption of what it'll be like. Any help with be greatly appreciated. Thank you :-)

Hi all, I'm new to this. Submitted my application on 17/06. Last week I received an email advising that I have past the paper sift along with an invite to the Assessment centre this coming Friday (17/07). I haven't seen any posts from new users that may be in the same boat as myself. I was just wondering if anyone could give me an insight into the written test on the day (length and timings etc). Also any other advice or tips would be great. Thanks Clayt
