Hi folks, I am currently a police officer in Scotland and I have decided (after much research and thinking) I am going to apply for the civil nuclear constabulary whenever they next open their gates for applicants. If successful and get accepted for the CNC, Torness would be my preferred and truthfully probably the only site I would be able to relocate to. Was wondering if anyone here has any experience or knowledge on whether torness would be difficult to get posted to ...(i.e is it too popular a posting that is hard to get into?) or would I be able to get a posting here fairly easily? Any info anyone can provide would be much appreciated! Cheers. GW.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask something that I was thinking about when discussing my up coming firearms assessment, what is it that you actually do on the day of your fitness test? Also looking ahead to the future after you have finished training etc are there designated ranges that you can attend for practice shoots etc or is the only time you shoot annually on your re certification? I have a meeting coming up with a HO AFO and wondered whether there is anything worth asking him to show me ahead of the assessment that would be of use (if I knew what they would ask can he show me etc.) I understand that some of this maybe sensitive so I would appreciate a PM in that case.…

Hi there I was just wondering if anyone had had any issues with regards to the medical. I've been told I've failed my medical (which was the very last thing - everything else passed) They have said it's for one reason, to which my own GP sees no issues with at all. And has total disagreed with the CMO. A decision has ben made without the RAP even looking at my medical records or history, all they have gone off of is the CMO's opinion. I know there isn't an appeals process as such but does anyone have any information on whether this can be challenged?? Or can I request a second opinion. Cheers

Hi I had my medical on Friday and everything seemed to go well. The doctor and nurse both said they were happy and I left thinking I had passed and I'd move on. Next thing I hear yesterday I've been referred to a RAP! Really gutted about it. I had a real minor knee pain about a year and a half ago, an x ray was done and there was no damage. It went away within a week and hasn't hindered me since. A doctors note was obtained too by occ health which explained I was fine and no problems since. Just wondering if anyone had had anything similar, what's involved? Is it just a formality? Thanks

Hi all, it is that time for me again to have a crack at applying for the CNC. However as predicted, they are no longer recruiting, which brings me to my stupid question(s). If I were to apply for the MOD Police and lets say I a get a pass score, am I allowed to transfer it to the CNC if they suddenly start recruiting ? Also sadly, I am based in Cambridge so well outside the 1 hour margin for Sizewell B (2 hours by train if lucky) However, my parents are 30 miles from there, so would that be acceptable if I am based at theirs during the days on ? Does the MOD Police have the same policy regarding locality, as I am a bit down on luck where I live it seems ? Again all hy…

Hi guys, just wondering if people usually get a conditional offer of employment before or after the medical? I've heard of cases of both!?

Some advice for anyone about to have an eyesight done for their pre-medical. As we all know the requirement is 6/7.5 in each eye. However, after getting 6/7.5 in left and 6/7.5 +2 in right, I was informed I had failed to meet requirements and required to wear contact lenses and wait 3 months for a re-test. 5 phone calls and 4 emails later to HR and Occupational Health, i finally got the answer as to why I had failed. Apparently they didnt like the +2 on 6/7.5. For anyone who doesnt understand the +2, it means i could also read 2 letter from the next line down 6/6. (Which means its better than 6/7.5) I was advised to go back to the opticians and have them complete the f…

Hi all I've just passed my fitness and firearms with the CNC but have received no offer or anything off them yet. My local HO force have opened recruitment today and I'm wondering if anyone knows whether I can apply for two at once or whether the CNC would withdraw me? I'm aware of the 6 month rules and everything but as I haven't failed anything I just needed to clarification. Thanks guys
