Hello to all. I have seen alot of talk on this forum about the CNC and so I wanted to take an opportunity to spell out the truth about the CNC and try and give all those of you looking to apply a bit of information that will help you in deciding whether this is the job for you or not. I ama serving CNC officer and I know when I was applying I looked on the internet for information, but didn't find much other than what is posted on this forum, so I hope that this will help some people. The CNC have 18 sites that they man. These are spotted all over the country, with Sellafield in Cumbria, Dounreay in North of Scotland and Harwell being the only ones that are manned wholy…

Hi, I recently passed my telephone interview for the Fire arms officer role within the CNC. Due to COVID the assessment centre will be held online. I am just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on the 'online assessment centre' and what i can expect? will it be any different from the normal assessment centre? Thanks.

I have recently applied for the CNC for the AFO vacancies at Hartlepool. I have passed the initial application, and received my invite to the Telephone Interview, which is booked for next week. Is there anyone else applied for this site? And how are you getting on with your preparation?

Hi there, I have seen several threads from years back but haven’t seen anything recent, I’m just wondering how long most people are waiting for the medical and fitness assessment. I passed ac over 8 weeks ago and sent my medical docs about 5 weeks ago and when I login to see how my application is progressing it just says medical and fitness in progress what does that mean? , I’m assuming I just have to wait as there is I assume a back log any help would be great guys. james

Hello, I tried to ask on police reddit forum but they are all anti anything home office and just try to dismiss the CNC so here I am! Basically I've been interested for many years, probably 5 or more now. I've mainly done hospitality as my work and currently in transport, so I always trick myself into thinking I don't have the experience the CNC may want? I was a manager of a busy city centre hotel chain for many years and seen and dealt with everything you could imagine, from dead bodies, fighting, mental people barricading themselves inside and setting fire to the place! Plus all the good stuff that came with it - this would be useful, right? I under…

Hi all, happy new year! I've just been invited to the assessment centre down in Workington, Cumbria and have a few questions. Firstly, is anyone else going down as well? Any ideas of what I should bring with me on the day? I've been told that i'll get the confirmation email once more people book in, so don't know if i'll have my answers from that hahah! I've also been looking into it and I do have a basic idea of what to expect down there, but if anyone could pass on some hints/tips for me i'd highly appreciate it Thanks for your time folks!

Good Evening, Just a few questions really, I am looking at a career change due to my current sector (Civil Aviation) struggling through COVID-19 (I thought perfect time to change career) 1. What is it like to be in the CNC, I ask this question as there are quite alot of negative write ups online about the job. 2. I understand this is not your usual policing role but can it still be interesting? 3.I am also looking at the BTP what is the better option in your opinion? Thanks

Hi, I attended the assessment centre 21st August and received an email saying I had passed a week later. Sent all my medical forms back to them straight away. Now it just seems a waiting game and all is quiet! How long have others waited from assessment to medical to then starting on the training course. I was hoping to get in the November intake!

Hi All, I have been invited to attend an assessment day in Cumbria next week. The format is to consist of a Group Discussion, Firearms Assessment, Competency Based Interview, and Written/Observation Assessment in the form of being shown a video clip and being asked to produce a written record. I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been through this format of assessment? Thanks in advance😃
