In the light of recent dog maulings that have gone so very public, the most recent being the Bradford attack, I wanted to hear what the general policing consensus was on the idea of bringing in licences and such to the ownership of dogs. A similar system involving 'passports' has proved successful with horses (albeit there are less 'horse attacks'), and do you think that this will make your lives easier by reducing ASB/Other crime regarding dogs or harder by creating a whole new area of legislation? I am sure that everyone on here agrees with the principles of democracy, freedom and liberty; even if we perhaps have interesting discussions on here about 'rights' and responsibilities in British society. But is 'democracy' an appropriate model for all societies? We have seen the revolution in Egypt that led to an Islamified government come to power and get overthrown. It was a people's revolution that many celebrated but perhaps illustrates the country has struggled with transition. That is perhaps a euphemism when you consider that the country's security forces are killing their own people as we speak. Syria was led by a secular leader who was a bit of tyrant, …

I am putting this here as this incredible story and fraud is world wide. I am still amazed by it, there are even training videos online. http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2013/may/02/fake-bomb-detector-conman-jailed The ADE 101 as quoted in the story above was an early model, the more 'advanced one was the ADE 651 as pictured below; How it was supposed to operate is described very well on Wikipedia; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADE_651 Here is an actual promotional video; Here is a training exercise with the ADE 651 in Thailand;

Christians in Britain and the US who claim that they are persecuted should "grow up" and not exaggerate what amounts to feeling "mildly uncomfortable", according to Rowan Williams, who last year stepped down as archbishop of Canterbury after an often turbulent decade. "When you've had any contact with real persecuted minorities you learn to use the word very chastely," he said. "Persecution is not being made to feel mildly uncomfortable. 'For goodness sake, grow up,' I want to say." True persecution was "systematic brutality and often murderous hostility that means that every morning you wonder if you and your children are going to live through the day". He cited the ex…

Small, discreet and completely innocent looking, this tiny 'key fob phone' has been widely advertised as a 'fun item'. But they are deadly serious to the prisoners inside British jails, who have been smuggling them in to make illegal calls. The tiny handsets, which sell for £40 on various auction sites, can be easily hidden from guards, and offer inmates the chance to make calls or texts. The tiny key fob phones have been smuggled into prisons so prisoners can make secret calls Easily hidden . I think we can guess where

I know we have a number of users here who are train buffs and or working for train companies. So, can someone with some knowledge please explain this to me: My girlfriend was looking at ways of travelling to Northumberland around X-mas (22-29 December) and looked at two options: - Train from London: £140 - Flying with BA from Heathrow for: £96 Both were on the same dates (22-29 December) and around about the same time. One takes the whole day and the other takes an hour of flying and max two hours in total of faffing around at the airport. (Domestic flight) How can train journeys justify charging so much for what is supposed to be "public transport" ? Just defies …

Link I dont like this at all, sure Doncaster Council has failed but I dont agree with a private firm taking over such a sensitive and vital public service - doesnt sit right with me at all.
