http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2013/nov/21/tubes-run-all-night-weekends-london-underground Seems interesting, however there's been a few comments on twitter regarding how Night bus culture will just transfer to the Tube. However, it doesn't really differ from say Reading station on a Weekend after the clubs shut. There's plenty of drunks about then. I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts. Edited: Slight slip of the finger...

There have been a number of brutal attackers on homeowners by burglars in the new recently, I think one killed an OAP and one attack stabbing a father. For example this story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2508597/Luton-father-stabbed-burglars-wife-daughter.html If you look at their house they have double glazing and a PVC front door. So i dont understand how someone could get in without making a racket? This year i have upgraded my door to metal (ie the same ones police cells have) and put blast resistant glass in my windows. Hopefully this will prevent any burglaries to my place.

After seeing such a positive response to the thread about the make-a-wish foundation event with Batkid, I thought some of you would be interested in a charity that a friend of mine has just taken over the chair of. It is called Embrace Child Victims of Crime and it is a national police charity, administered by trustees including serving and retired officers, hence why I thought you'd be interested. It was set up in 1993 in the aftermath of the Warrington bombings specifically to provide support to any child traumatised by or a victim of crime, pretty much what the title of it suggests. Please take a look http://www.embracecvoc.org.uk/index.html :new_yes: :new_thank…

Just found a video my little brother posted on Facebook. Long and short of it: One of his friends launching fireworks from his bum. Any advice on what to say to him. And if I should / what I should say to parents?

Some years ago now, but an amazing feat by the families of those killed. If you go to the coordinates 16°51’53″N 11°57’13″E in Google Maps, in satellite view, you will find among a vast swath of empty desert, the tiny silhouette of a large airplane, like it was burned into the sand with an enormous magnifying glass. It’s the satellite memorial for UTA Flight 772. On Tuesday, September 19th, 1989, six Libyans ignited a suitcase bomb on a DC-10 on its way to Paris from Brazzaville. It crashed in the middle of the desert in Niger; all 170 people on board died. 18 years after the crash, family members gathered at the site, creating one of the first memorial sites tailor-…

http://news.sky.com/story/1167890/indias-top-cop-under-fire-for-rape-remarks I don't really know what to say about this - rather speechless that in this day and age somebody could still be so flippant about rape!

I've just tried to read a story - The sordid reality of art crime - on the BBC Website and was presented with this message: Now I realise that technically is very easy to get around (I'm not suggesting you try) but nevertheless the principle really annoys me. I've never seen this message before so I Googled it and found an explanatory article on the Daily Mail website. It's because of licence payers like us that the BBC exist and now they have the audacity to restrict access to content generated using our money!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-24879883 War hero's funeral plea attracts hundreds Hundreds of people are expected to attend the funeral of a war veteran they never knew after he died with no close friends or relatives around him. Harold Jellicoe Percival helped with the famous Dambusters raids during the Second World War. Mr Percival, who served as ground crew with the RAF's Bomber Command, never married and had no children. The RAF Association has been involved in ensuring that his funeral in Lancashire on Monday is well attended. Mr Percival, who lived in Penge, south London before joining the RAF, died last month aged 99 at a nursing home in Lytham …
