One person head buts another...The male who gets headbutted turns round and punches the other one... Do you arrest them both for an affray or the headbutter for assault and then recepient for affray??

We've not really seen him since he got nicked before the royal wedding - well, there is absolute 'outrage' in the 'truther' community right now as apparently there is a lot of chatter that Charlie has given up almost all of his 'Love police' beliefs. He posted a video on his youtube where he suggested that the 9/11 attacks were not a conspiracy after all and that the media isn't some sort of giant orchestrated propaganda machine either. Basically he's started talking sense and a lot of his followers are going absolutley banannas at this apparent betrayal. So whats really going on? I'm halfway through my specials training at the amount, and people driving whilst using a phone seems to frustrate me more and more every time i see it and i cant really do anything about it! Even when im trained and have my warrant, im not going to go flashing it about when off duty because someone's driving whilst using a phone... (Even if i realllly want to!) Is there any sort of system in place to report drivers for this even if you cant stop them [When you next pop into the station?]? I.E your off duty?

I realise that the topic of disillusionment with policing has come up before, but I felt the need to create a thread to have a little rant. I've never really taken the role of being a police officer all that seriously. I like to think I do it properly and to the best of my ability, and "not taking it seriously" meaning I don't take things personally, and don't stress all that much on or off duty. On my first application to the Specials I recieved high scores on all the tests, including fitness. I got through right to the end until my personal vetting was done. Over one year ago, I had an argument with my husband, decided to have some time on my own and left off for the day. My husband got worried and reported me as a missing person; I was only gone for an afternoon!!!!. Consequently, because I did not state this on my application ( really did not think about it!), recruitment informed me that although it was not an offence, it was still on my notes!!!! I always appreciate the hard work and long hours that all you guys/girls put in, paid or unpaid! And I’m not even sure this applies to anyone on this forum. A few days ago I was working on a train checking tickets (it’s my job, I’m not a special/reg) and I came across a nice chap So like everyone else on the train, I asked him for a ticket, he shows me a warrant card that turns out to be some kind of border/immigration warrant card. After a careful look I ask if he has any other valid tickets for the journey he is making. He says “yes†and shows me an expired ticket for over a 2 months ago. When I first started in policing, we were issued the standard PR24. Then we were allowed to carry the 21 inch ASP. I've seen other local departments in my area carrying the Monadnock Autolocks in 26 inch. Which one do you guys carry and which do you prefer?

(Not sure whether this is in the right section, but it relates to law..) Anyway, On my way to work i go through a section of road about 1/2 a mile and its a 40MPH limit.. The same piece of road on the way back is an NSL. Is there any explanation to this. The piece of road in question is this - Enter cords in to google maps. NSL sign - 51.808374,-0.656524 40 limit sign - 51.812475,-0.649459 Ok.. ignore that, It shows on google maps that they are both NSL, but im 90% sure it says 40 on the way into tring. Ill confirm it tomorrow. Has anyone seen that before?

See if every police officer gets giving a taser will specials get training in using tasers then put on the streets with tasers. it would be my first choice to use when dealing with a Knife incident

Was watching Traffic Cops on youtube before http://www.youtube.com/user/ukpolice3#p/u/10/BTPQ12k-3-w during the show, the officers come across a firearm that is loaded. I am not in the police (Yet!! ) but I am in the army cadets and we are trained in weapons handling (firing, cleaning, making safe etc) If you come across a weapon after carrying out a search, are you allowed to make the weapon safe if you know how to or do you just place the weapon down pointing in a safe direction and wait for firearms unit to turn up. Hope it doesn't seem like a strange question but it's just something that popped in to my head and wasn't too sure about the answer!! Thanks Luke

Hey guys, I'm currently a LT with the New York City PD here in the US. I've always been a big fan of the British police and have admired the fact that you guys go out there and do the same job without being armed. Lately, I've been watching a show called Brit Cops on youtube. I noticed that in one episode, 2 officers approached 2 robbery suspects. In that same situation here in NYC, we would first secure them by placing them in handcuffs, search them for weapons and then question them as to their involvement in any crime. The cops on the show I was watching didn't even perform a frisk. Is that normal in the UK?

Hello, I've been chatting with a couple of Traffic officers about what they have coming in the new year when the force changes to a Hub system and work with geographic responce cars picking up the trouble with teams to do the paperwork leaving less officers on the streets. What does this mean for specials, will I (if i get through) be left to take statements and do paper work? I understand this system has failed in other forces so I wonder if anyone knows how the specials were effected there. cheers

Now i'm sure these petitions don't mean a lot to Call-Me-Dave, however i've seen this one posted on the Inspector Gadget blog and I think if nothing else, and even if it amounts to nothing, it has to be worth a signature. We can't very well sit and moan about cuts and lack of action, when we're not willing to put a name on a petition aimed at going in our favour. The Government won't reverse the plans for cuts while the Police are kicking against them - of course the Police will reject the axe to their budgets - but if enough of the public are on side, if the numbers get high enough, and the Government STILL ignore them, then they're ignoring the very wishes of the peopl…
