Hey all to that remember me. Its been a while I have stayed away for the last 4 months more due to anger and confusion and everytime I came here it reminded me of that. Just in case you didnt know I was with one force but lived in another county so I put in for a transfer as my hours were low due to the distanace and I really enjoyed doing it so it much. When I tried to Transfer to my local I failed vetting for an undisclosed reason so I set about to find out why as they wouldnt tell me, nothing came up at any turn, never been convicted or arrested or in fact nothing had changed for me or anyone I know since I joined. So I balanced my life about a bit made some big chan…

I've just started a new job and I've noticed that I've got a 3 month notice period in my contract. Now, say that recruitment for regulars opened up again tomorrow and I was lucky enough to pass all the tests and get offered a position, how much notice is usually given before training starts? Basically, is the 3 months going to cause me problems in the future?

A little bit unprofessional, but entirely hilarious: I've heard of sergeants sticks before, but never actually seen one.

Just noticed this link in the Nott's force specific forum and thought it could be of interest to Specials from other forces as well. http://www.nottingha...e_as_a_special/ Iridium

When I joined the Special Constabulary; as with all our training, the input we got from the forensics department was limited due to the time constraints of training. I have the opportunity to offer additional forensic training to SC members in my force. I am aware that a sound and in depth forensic understanding is not required by both SC or PC, but as the opportunity has arisen I believe it will be beneficial and motivational. What I don't want to do is take this too far and it become completely irrelevant to their role. So my question to you is.... What topics could be covered to increase understanding in everyday policing scenarios? One that springs to my mind is…

hi there, i'm currently at hull university (but am originally from doncaster) and i have sent off for an application pack to become a special in hull. However, when my housing contract runs out (1st july) i will have to move back home to doncaster for a couple of months until my new housing contract will start (august to september time). What will happen to me being in the specials? Will i be able to transfer to the specials in doncaster for such a short time or will i be allowed to not work for them couple of months till i'm back in hull or will i get kicked off the specials all together because i won't be able to work for them couple of months?

Hi I was wondering what those of you who are already serving Specials would do on a typical shift. Im just trying to get an idea of how your skills are utilised by your Regular colleagues. Any replies very much appreciated.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGIlUUsh0cU&feature=related Don't remember this being posted before so thought I would. This is literally my nightmare situation to be in. I have no sympathy for the guy, and am angry with the arrogance she showed in thinking he could drive while over the limit. They should show this clip instead of the other anti drink drive adverts they show. I think it has more of an effect. Or certainly does with me.

Yesterday whilst driving home I saw a bicycle with a flashing blue light, a bit like the green or red ones that you see but this was a definite blue. Is this legal? Anyone know? As far as I could tell, the cyclist was not using it to gain advantage over traffic of contravene the RTA.

When taking a MISPER report what sort of questions do you ask? I understand that there is a risk assessment which needs to be completed, therefore the questions should be based around this? Have they any suicidal thoughts, are they on any medication, have they gone missing before? What other questions would you be expected to ask?

Evening chaps, I've not been on for a while but I do check in occasionally to make sure you're all behaving yourselves! :D Just a quick question as I'm building some research for my force. Does your regular job have any type of "corporate responsibility" scheme allowing specials to take paid leave and undertake training? If so, what courses have you done? e.g. driving course etc. Cheers

Here’s an interesting one! I’ve managed to get my name as well as my home address searchable on the internet. Now before I get told off – this is because I have a few .com domains registered under my name, and also because I was registered as a Director for a small charity that I was helping out with. Considering my name’s fairly (if not very) distinctive, I’m worried that having my name velcroed on my chest wouldn’t put me in the best of positions when dealing with any bad guys! Are we really required to have our name badges on when on duty?
