I've just come back from a trip to Bosnia (what a unexpectedly nice country). Whilst there, I was chatting to some police officers who were carrying out security duties at public buildings. I couldn't quite fathom whether they were ordinary police officers or special, judicial-type of police. However, with it starting to get a bit cold with the onset of winter, they were telling us that they have just been issued with a new thermal type of all-in-one undergarment. The ones we met had all just collected their supply parcels of about half a dozen each and were saying how good they were going to be to keep the cold out. I don't know if any of you remember the old-fashioned …

Apologies if this has been posted before (I did check) or in the wrong place... Just noticed a job opportunity on the Police Oracle site that was a link on this site; Would it not be a little conflict of interests to actually hire someone based on holding the Office of Constable as a SC?? On duty the other day i was taking a new SC around on their second shift when we get called to a well know high street store and told that a person is kicking off because they have been detained for shoplifting. On arrival the suspect is being looked at by paramedics as they had suddenly felt ill when told police were on their way to the store as the paramedic said there was nothing wrong with them the suspect was all ours. On asking what had happened the store manager stated that the suspect was witnessed by a MoP emptying racks of clothing into a holdall and trying to walk out of the store. The value of the goods was over £450 so the newbie got their first arrest for t…

I was amazed to read that a police officer with Avon and Somerset used his taser on a dog... That has to be the most amazing use of a taser by any police officer. Does anyone know of any other similar cases of taser or cs being used to control a dog. Somerset police officer used Taser on out-of-control rottweiler

Autoblog UK Drink driving doesn't necessarily mean a ban By Martyn Collins, Oct 27, 2011 Filed under: Comment ----Text Size A A ALeave a Comment
With Christmas just around the corner, the usual clampdown on drink drivers will be big news. And while you might assume that an automatic driving ban is the default penalty, statistics from the Ministry of Justice suggest otherwise.

Last year, 1,480 o…

After reading another thread in another forum, I thought I'd throw this question out for discussion: Do you consider an earpiece to be a necessity when out on patrol, or is it a mere tackleberry thing to make you look cool or pretty? Is it your forces policy to wear one? Are there disadvantages to wearing an earpiece? :-D

I've been raging at this video for the last 20 minutes or so, so I thought I'd share it with you lot. A burden shared is a burden halved, and all that. Early warning, small minded bigotry in terrifying quantities.

Hey, this is a bit of a stupid question but hopefully someone can shed some light for me. So you come across someone threatening to harm themselves. You decide they need to be taken to a 'place of safety' are they then under arrest under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act or just detained under it? Also I know the person in question is taken to a hospital as opposed to the custody suite but is a record taken on PNC or a local force database? Thanks
