One of my friends came into the office today and mentioned receiving a Jury Duty summons for the local crown court centre. My friend is a special and wondered if this would exempt her from attending court ? I have heard that police officers can now be called to Jury Duty though I don't know anyone who has so far been called. Does anyone have experience of being called up for Jury Duty or having been exempted or attended a trial on the Jury. Personally I have never received a Jury Duty summons, wonder what it would be like and how the other members of the Jury would consider the evidence. C.

Hello!! It's been a while but I wanted to ask a question and see if there was anyway to solve it, My brother recently rang me on a family members phone telling me that the police had his phone hence the reason he was using someone elses, So I'd like to know how long the police can hold his mobile phone? He asked they replied "a long time" funniest reply ever if you ask me, and how if possible he would be able to get the phone back in to his possession. Offtopic: Can I get my rank changed, I'm still in the Jr. Member, Thanks for any replys in advance! -Daniel.

Are prisoners allowed to have a Facebook page? Just come across a couple under the "people you may know" section. They have 1 friend in common. The said person has a picture that you can clearly tell they are in prison.

I assumed that forces would keep their old number......what about officers phoning on enquires to other forces, how will that work if they have to ring 101 This is interesting http://www.police.uk/101 if they can let you chose what force when ringing 101 then why cant they do it with 999?

During my first weekend of training, the tutors got everyone into groups to discuss our biggest/any concerns or fears. There were loads of answers, from first arrest to not getting respect from collegues, someone even feared death My main concern was that in my area and my station, there are lots of eastern europeans, not that I have an issue with then however the language barrier could be a potential problem..unfortunatly there are no lessons on Polish or Latvian during training..so this coould be an issue in the future, maybe I'll have to do a basic online course to overcome this. Has anyone else got any major concerns or fears and have you had to deal with them on d…

It's odd how as a police office that you just can smell wrongdoing isn't it? My example is that when walking my dog off duty I spotted a likely looking character who I had never seen before and was walking in front of me. He knew that I was a police officer because of someone he was walking with knew me and they kept turning around to look at me far more than was required (as attractive as I am) I mentioned this to someone else who knows him and a few days later I hear that he has just received 6 months at Her Majesties Pleasure. Odd that, you just 'know' don't you?

I was in the pedestrianised area of a City Centre this afternoon, about 18:30 hours. It was dark. I was single crewed, and had just finished dealiing with a shoplifting offence in a large well known store, and had returned to my Police car, which I had parked outside. I had just started it up and put my seat belt on, when I saw an older lady, appearing to run towards my car. I wound down the window and asked how I could help. She told me she was in the city on a day trip, with a coach full of older people, from around 80 miles away. She said that two members of their party had not returned to the meeting point to catch the pre-booked coach back, at 17:30, and that the b…

Something that happened to me last night that left me speechless (a rareity)! I was just locking up the office (my day job) which is located on a very small industrial estate just outside of quiet Cambridgeshire village. This is my parents company of which I run the day to day office work. There are 15 of us that work here (my parents work from home generally). There were 3 of us leaving at the same time when a middle aged lady came striding up to us, handbag clenched shouting "Lock your doors, make sure your windows are shut, they're here they're here". Needless to say, in a slightly stunned way I enquiried who was where to which I got the reply: "those scummy gyp…

Hi, Sorry if this question has been asked many times before, but couldnt see the answer when looking through. In one of our recent lessons at Hendon we were told that when purchasing boots / shoes we shouldnt have steel toe caps, when looking at most of the boots on various websites such as Millets sports and the shop link on here, many mention coposite toe, would these be okay? Also does anyone have a good recomended boot, that is comfy and also light weight so I can give a good foot chase if needed? thanks
