On my way home from work yesterday, in St.Helens, Merseyside, i was stopped on my bike by two young Specials. The reason...?cycling on the footpath. In the instance i had just, and i mean for a split second, got onto the footpath and back off again to avoid an irratic vehicle. One of the officers stood infront of my bike causing me to stop. He asked me why i was on the footpath ? For which i found strange as i know he saw what happened as i had spotted the two officers prior to mounting the footpath and i saw them spot me. Hi folks, I have read many threads in the past about how when you join the police you will lose friends and that they may view you differently. Well I've been quite fortunate in that all my friends are generally law-abiding people who have had no issue whatsoever with me joining the police and if anything are very interested by it. Hey, for starters let me just say hello! Been a bit of a leech on here for a couple months reading loads of interesting threads but never really got involved. So again, Hi Just sent me application off for A&S and am curious about PNB's. I read everywhere about notes, notes and more notes. But i am just curious to in say an average shift how many times you get it out and how many pages you'd fill. I know there is no "average day" but you get what I mean Thanks!

I have wanted to be a special now for about 3 years, I have been a police cadet for over 2 and half years in two different forces. I am now of age to apply for the specials but have the problem of excess speed in a 30 and an NFA for impersonating. The NFA came about whilst in London with some friends, taking part in our own role play where our friend was out on the corner of a street and we would come around the corner and get out the car identifying our selves as IVF security (made up firm) and cuff him to make it look like he had been citizen arrested. I came accross the attached vid' on Youtube and would be interested to hear others points of view in relation to the scenario. MoP appears to be on a train without a valid ticket, train conductor requests him to leave but MoP refuses. Second MoP takes it upon himself to remove non-fare paying MoP using force. Have a gander at the vid' and perhaps discuss was the force used reasonable in the circumstances or unlawful. This vid' was recorded in Scotland should that be of any relevance.

When i am on the bus on the way to work, I notice that there is a police car always parked in the petrol station (BP / Spar) It never seems to move, if its not there its usually parked at another petrol station up the road. I take it this is some kind of crime prevention pilot ?

So, I was spending a typical evening eating sausage tikka masala on toast and watching Road Wars, when I came across a particular gem of a moment in series 1, episode 5. Basically, scrabbling on the floor with a prisoner trying to swallow a rock of crack, an officer put his fingers in the guys mouth to retrieve the rock/prevent it being swallowed, and (perhaps unsurprisingly) got his fingers bitten for his trouble. Every now and then I get something like this pop up on my facebook: The question is, is there actually any real difference between police officers globally? Apart from general pay, skillsets, weaponry, when it comes down to proper policing, are we all in the same boat globally? Hello everyone, just wanted to ask a quick question as there seems to be a mix of how people respond on my team. If you are a special, whenever a MoP asks about your career, do you pretend you are a regular, or are you open about the fact that you are an unpaid volunteer officer? Just a bit curious to see what the general course of action is. If you could just give an outline as to your choice too, that'd be great.

On our PDU our little probationers do struggle with their PNBs sometime. I like to provide those who do with a handy little guide, I have done so for a while now. However, while compiling the latest one I notice on our policy document that it states times must be recorded in your PNB in the 12 Hour clock. Now, that to me seemed silly, as I was always taught to use the 24-hour clock in ALL police work and assumed this to be a mistake. I emailed HR who promptly told me, "nope, you're wrong... use the 12 hour". Now... Can every one else tell me what they use, and what their force advises?
