Heard this over the radio when conducting person checks...What is an MG16? Just want to clarify really. I think from a bit of digging that it is a "reference of bad character"...What is defined as bad character and when would one be submitted, and for what sort of offences?

Having just watched this video from the US got me thinking, would this ever happen in the UK? im fairly certain that a UK officer would never work again (in the police) after this video, but what if they were sacked for something a little closer to the line?

So what is the rules for dealing with people you actually know. Is there a spectrum? eg. where does the line be drawn on if you "know" someone... (family, close friend, Friend of a friend, dave from accounting, bartender at your local) For example, if you walked past someone in the street I can't see a problem with making pleasantries. But how about running into someone you know on a night out(whilst on shift) and having a 2 min chat. Or at the other scale, seeing someone you know committing an offence. Is there official police protocol or just a culture of how to deal with things like this..

No doubt there will be some that get no training, some that get some and other that get more, of varying quality/relevance too. Hi all, Like many I have always wanted to join the Police and after being unable to apply since I left Uni 2012 is the year I have decided to try and become a Special A few points to raise: a) Do people still think it will primarily be the most effective thing to do to gain entry as a Reg (I hope so!) b) Are we now seeing a time when even applying to volunteer as a Police Officer is a challenge in itself? I see the majority of forces are not even recruiting Specials....If so will we get to a point where Special applicants are "being binned"?

How sensitive is the human nose to alcohol (of the beverage type) The reason is that I have just been down the local shop, and popped into my local for a quick pint on the way home. On my return, my missus (nose of a bloodhound) said "You absolutely stink of alcohol" Now - I have had 1 pint of low strength bitter (3.5%) - honest m'lud, just 1 pint I am sure we have all stopped motorists who 'stink of alcohol' and this obviously gives a power to require, but can you gauge how much someone has had to drink from the smell alone

I work for an executive agency of the Department for Transport. Up until recently, Special Constables have been allowed paid time off from work to carry out Special Constabulary duties. This is under the "Paid Special Leave" policy relating to voluntary public bodies. It has recetnly been decided that Special Constables no longer should be included within the policy and therefore, time off will not be granted. My name is Cameron and I am new to this site. I have a big long story but please bear with me as it is relevant to the topic. A few weeks ago I saw an XBox game that I really wanted and all my mates have. I thought I would be smart and try to steal it. I did try but was caught by staff in the shop. The police were called and two officers came. I was arrested and handcuffed, put in a cage in the van, taken through custody and locked in a cell for ages.
